Well, today is one of my first challenges re: food. My friend invited me to her son's 5th birthday party, and it's at this restaurant where they have games - video games, etc. They're having lots of fried foods buffet-style. I'm still doing pureed foods, so there's pretty much nothing I can eat, even if I ordered off of their menu. I just know people are going to be offering me food, wondering why I'm not eating left and right.

You can do this Jenn. It will take a lot of inner strength but I know you can do it.
My head hunger was so intense for the first month following surgery. You will get through it and it is a wonderful feeling when you discover the joy of not being hungry anymore. The head hunger does subside. And you WILL have the option to eat real food again.

Thanks for the encouragement, Persephone. I just got back from the party, and boy was it tough, but I just drank my water and that was all. French fries, chicken tenders, wings, pizza...everyone was eating. But I was ok. I made sure I ate right before I went. Luckily the cake was for a kid, so it was covered with colored icing, black icing on some areas, so it looked disgusting!
Now I'm having a sf instant breakfast. I also went grocery shopping afterward to pick up more food. It was kind of nice to see such an empty cart for once!
I'm glad to know that the head hunger should lessen, because that was bad! But I do feel so good just with the little amount of weight I've dropped that it's worth it.

Hey Jenn, just catching up on your story. You will be fine and you will be able to eat more "normally" soon. I went to a wedding the second Saturday after my surgery, and I was frightened, but it all worked out.
You CAN DO IT! :-)

Tonight, for the first time since surgery, I officially exercised on my elliptical. It was at a moderate pace for 30 minutes. And what is phenomenal is that I did not get tired, wondering how much time I had left. Usually in the past I get tired around 15 - 20 minutes and I am thinking about stopping up until the end, sometimes early, too.
One secret I have always used is that I set a playlist on my iPod for the amount of time I want to work out and I don't look at the clock setting on my machine, and I use a different playlist as soon as I become too familiar with the playlist order, so I never know how much time/how many songs are left. Well, today since I was going slow, I didn't even turn the settings on on the elliptical, so I was not tempted to look at how much time went by at all.

This is so true, because even though I am only one week out from my surgery, I know that there are men out there that will love you for who you really are, because I have been blessed with a most amazing man. We have been together for 20 years, but I can say with all honesty that he has loved me skinny, fat and he showes me everyday that if for some reason loose skin creeps up on me that it me he loves, not me being skinny, fat of even having some loose skin. So take it from me they are out there. And when true love hits thats when its love about you not about what may not be perfect.

This Wednesday I went back to work. I felt ready and energetic. Plus it's an office/cubicle job, so I wasn't concerned. Well, last evening (thurs) I came home feeling extremely sore in my belly area. I slept most of the evening away, and decided I would call off today, just fearing that I didn't want to overwhelm my body. It just feels tender still, like lots of sore muscles. I know I could've went, but at what price?....to feel even more sore when I get home this evening. I hope that by the end of this weekend I'm feeling better. I don't consider it a major setback or anything, not enough to contact my doc about the pain, I just think I did the right thing by not going in today.
I'm also really stressed out. My now ex-fiance, whom I'm still currently living with, was supposed to get a roommate to take over my part of the lease so I could move out in April. Well now the landlady may not let this guy move in with him b/c of his bad credit history. I was already to sign a lease on a new apartment and now she's dragging it out, she will not return the guy's calls at all. She told me that she will not let us break the lease, either. I don't blame her for any of it, as it's just business and we need to play by the rules. I just feel so "stuck" right now. My ex and I are getting along, but if this doesn't work out, then we are stuck with each other until the end of Sept. Plus it frustrates me, he's more concerned about his friend who already rented out his own house so he could move in here (he's been staying at his mom's until I moved out). He acts like the guy is homeless, or can't find an apartment and live on his own.
