My friend that is holidaying in Texas is making me drool.Kathy took a side trip to New York and loved Macy's.I went on the site and the clothes are so nice and reasonably priced. They don't post to Australia so I have to find someone who will accept the parcel and repost it to me.With all the new clothes I need I am acting a bit like a spoilt brat.I want clothes from Macy's and I want them immediately!!!!My friend said that she will return next year so I had better start saving so I can go too.
Talk to me soon
Vicki
Amount I eat is about 1850 calories. Bear in mind, Im 6-1 and so probably a bit bigger than you and thus should eat more. This allows me to lose about 1-1/2 lbs per week. Logging my food on Lose it!, so the number is pretty accurate.

Ive been on a plateau of late, so Im doing a two day "plateau breaker" which today was under 1000 calories. To wit:

B: two eggs and low fat turkey sausage, one piece of whole wheat toast with 1/2 tsp of butter;
L: Grilled chicken (3oz) caesar salad, less dressing, cheese and croutons, plus olive oil and vinegar.
D: 5oz seared tuna sashimi, fresh cucumbers and onion marinated in vinegar, spinach salad with an olive and no fat italian dressing.

About 950 calories. Way too little for me normally. Two days to break it loose and back to my normal 1850 calories.

If you need someone to reship, I can help. Send me a PM. Could be expensive tho. Why doest your friend do it? She is here....right?

Now Macy's is just OK, but has she tried Nordstrom's? Or Sak's? BTW Houston's Galleria is a shopaholic's heaven! Four city blocks three stories high with an Ice Capades ice rink. One end is Neiman-Marcus, the other is Macy's, with every kind of high end store you can imagine. Couple of five star hotels too. 24 million visitors annually.

Im not having any clothes now either. Afraid to buy too much tho. Still losing

Default Plateau Breaker is done

Two days of consuming under 1000 calories. Yes I dropped a couple of pounds. Today was back up in the 1850 calorie range.

Still need to watch calorie consumption closely.

Lots of stress lately at work. Big meetings, budgets, and no opportunity to exercise this week. Not getting much sleep either. Things typically not conducive to a weight loss.

Really wanna get into the 220's soon - only a couple pounds away. It is really tough right now to get anything to come off. Fat can be very stubborn.

On the good side, I'm now the same weight as I was when Bones and I married in 1988. Had to toss out the 42 waist pants and all the XXL shirts.

Now wearing 40s - a 12 waist-inch reduction since Jan. I own no 38 waist pants. Have given everythng else to Goodwill. Closet looks very sparse these days.

When the going gets tough, and Im frustrated, I have to remind myself of the successes.

Hi Aviator,
Thank you for offerring to repost for me but how would you have the time to do it? I keep on looking at the sites you mentioned-a bit pricey for poor old me but Macy's is spot on.I so love to shop and day dream!!If I did get you to do it for me I wouldn't do it very often.I will wait until my friend returns and ask her if her cousins will do it for me.I assume now she has acquainted herself to shopping in the US she will probably want to continue to buy more and I will add my shopping to hers.No doubt her cousins will do the repost for us BUT if they don't I might take you up on that offer one day.
Losing that last bit of weight is so hard.I am pleased to see you are the same as me-though it would be better to know that we are both finding the last few pounds easier to get rid of.I guess we just have to be more patient. Some days I think I need to cut back on my food and others I relax and tell myself that this stage is just a stall-albeit a long one.You have to admit we don't eat anything like we did before.I really don't see why we are not losing. My problem is probably the ice-creams but still...I also think our age doesn't help. Not forgetting the lack of exercise....
I went to a work reunion this week.I haven't seen some of my ex-colleagues for close to 30 years. If it wasn't for the op I wouldn't have gone.Everyone there was stockier than before but no one was bigger than me OR much smaller either .Around about the same-ish.I felt so neutral-it felt so satisfactory! The biggest difference was that I think I was the most 'juantiest'-if that is the best word to describe the way I moved compared to them. Then again they were able to eat a 3 course meal whereas I ate a half a kid's meal!!!They were loaded down with food!!!I asked everyone if I could be left out of the food bill split. It was great to only need to pay $10 instead of the $70+ they paid.I even gave away the included dessert.
I just wish I could stop snacking .
Aviator we were very brave when we had our op and hasn't it paid off??This xmas will see us look a lot better in our photos than we did last year. The cost of out meal will certainly be a lot less too!!!
Bye my friend
Vicki

Yes it is tougher now, but the 'plateau breaker' did work for me. Weighed this morning and was 229.7. First time the scale was in the 220s for more than 15 years.

Yes we were brave. Yes, for us the sleeve was a good choice.

What I did over the summer (your winter) and up until recently, was to rely too much on my sleeve and lower comsumption to "do the work for me". Recently, Ive come to realize what I put in there really matters if I want to keep going down.

So push away that ice cream and high cal beverages. its a killer for sleeve people. Get Lose it! and watch those calories!

All the best from Texas...

Default Brief update

While my weight is moving sloooooowl slooooowly downward now, as I get close to my goal, there are some importan other metrics about this weight loss that I would like to tell all of you about.

What other metrics you ask? The forum is named "Thinner Times". We have had "Weight Loss Surgery", right? These other metrics may be actually more important since they are indicators of our actual health.

I had blood work done this week and here are the numbers.
The envelope please.

.........................Before................... ................Now.........................
Blood Pressure......145/95..................................100/65 (no more meds)
Total Cholesterol...290................................. .....173
Triglycerides.........550+........................ ............79
Lost 12 waist inches.
No longer insulin resistant.

For me, these were important goals that HAVE been reached, while my weight loss goal is still 20-30 lbs away.

Look at you and those numbers! That's fantastic. I need to get motivated to get another 20 lbs off so I can be "normal". I'd like to be there before our surgiversary but I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, I was about to tell you that I like the new avatar!

Isn't it amazing about the blood pressure? I never even had high blood pressure but the last time I had it taken about a month ago it was so low...I mean, not too low, but wow, what a difference! Congrats on ALL of your stats. Sometimes people get caught up in dropping the pounds and then get frustrated when that slows up, but you do have to remind yourself of everything else that has improved greatly since dropping some weight. Great stats!
