Wink Which are your own 5 landmark events this year?

Here are mine:

1. One year of weight loss post surgery - what an amazing journey of self-improvement and personal re-discovery!

2. My 25th/Silver Wedding Anniversary - 25 wonderful years with my Prince Charming (we have new wedding rings for the occasion and celebrated in Bordeaux, France).

3. My darling puppy Pugsy was killed instantly by a hit and run car when he tugged on his lead and his collar burst open and he headed for the road...

4. Our daughter announced that we were becoming first time grandparents but very sadly she had an early miscarriage. She is now well and has recovered and our emotions are mixed with sadness and relief

5. Started, undertook and COMPLETED the significant refurbishment of my home literally just ready to spend Christmas in it with the whole family for the first time in 7 years.

So, what are your defining moments???
Cheers,
Vim

1. Divorced my husband - I know now that I deserve so much better. If I was still 275 pounds, I may still be there
2. Moved from NY to Virginia after the divorce (2nd long haul move in just over a year).
3. Established a life on my own in my new area - new job, new church, new (and old) set of friends, reconnected with family.
4. New boyfriend
5. Bought my own townhouse - fixed it up before moving in and am now happily settling in and nesting.

1) New Years: Got engaged

2) Jan 29th: had surgery and subsequently have lost almost 130 lbs (in 10 months !)

3) Lost my job to China

4) Moved to VT (and subsequently moved again 2 months later)

5) Married Oct 11th

This has been one year filled with so many life changing events, it isn't funny. I'm really hoping for a NON-eventful year of just living and enjoying life for 2009.

Hmmmm....

1. My Father passed away. It is so strange that I think about him more now that he is gone then I did when he was alive... sad.

2. My MIL was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer and she is right in the middle of 6 months worth of chemo treatments. Thanksgiving and Christmas she will be having treatment and not celebrating with family. We will be spending Dec. 20th with them as our celebration.

3. Maintained my weight loss...but want to lose another 10-15 pounds before my 20th high school reunion next July.

4. Got a new car.

5. Still madly in love with my hubby.... and that is a landmark event when everyone I know has a marriage falling apart.

Vim,

I love this thread. You sure know how to start em! I've been MIA and this gives me a wonderful place to catch up. Having said that....let the catching up commence:

Sweetie, I am so very sorry about Pugsy, as well as the loss you suffered with your daughter. Congrats on hitting 25 years with the hubby. That is almost unheard of these days...

And Whit....NEW BOYFRIEND I'm so happy for you! I'm gonna to go thru some old posts before I dare say 'told ya so' but I *think* I did.

Congrats Kel....I might need some wedding advice

And Cindy....missed ya....I KNOW you can do it. My 20th is coming up soon as well.

Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. (sorry if I missed anyone)

So my 2008 landmarks are:

1. Almost a year has passed since surgery. I am so grateful that it has allowed me to not only transform my body but my entire "personhood" That's the best word I can think of to describe it. I'm just stronger then I've ever been before and that is a beautiful thing.

2. Kicked out my boyfriend. I learned you cannot truly love anyone when you hate yourself. And even though you are a strong woman you can still be subtly manipulated.

3. My grandfather passed away.

4. Got a new man. Got engaged. I never ever thought I would get married. I'm just not at all domestic. I've just never wanted to feel 'tied down' It's different with the right man. Destination wedding 11/11/11 It will take me at least that long to plan it and save for the wedding/handfasting I want. And believe me, it will not be a traditional one.

5. Changes within my company. (can't say too much about that one but I think it will be ok)

Being new to this site, this will serve as an introduction as well.

1) Went to Disneyworld for the 1st time

2) Completed my personal goal of seeing the rest of the 48 contiguous United States. (had the last 11 to do this summer with my mom) and I am only 31.

3) Quit Smoking for the LAST time! Its been over 4 months now.

4) Decided to change my life through surgery. Should happen in December, January at the latest.

5) Hit 18 years with the same man!

I have to say this life had its ups and downs but those are the highlights. I quit my job to get back some reality of the fact that I am a person again, not just a ruler. I love having the time to spend with my family. Its also causes alot of depression and inactivity. I am looking forward to a new challenge with this surgery. I am so excited to have this chance to better my life.
