After talking about WLS for the past year or so I have finally made the decision to go ahead with it. Last month I went to a WLS info seminar at Castle Medical Center. I liked what they had to say so I made an appointment with the surgeon. Yesterday was my appointment date and I was accepted as a surgical candidate. I am now officially in the Castle Med Ctr WLS program. I went in thinking the worst, thinking that it was going to be a long grueling uphill battle. So far all is going better than I could ever imagine. Dr. says I am a little bit riskier than some of his patients due to my co morbidities but a bigger risk if I don't do the surgery. The choice is mine for the type of surgery and I'm 99.9% sure I will go with the Lap RNY.He has given me a very short list of prerequisites. I only have to get an EKG, a psych eval and one other minor test (can't remember what it's called) and I do not have to lose weight prior to surgery. They said they will call me within a week (once they get ins approval) and set me up with the rest of my appointments for physical therapy, nutrition, surgery date, etc. He said I could be schedule for as early as January. Unfortunately, I have to wait until mid February due to the fact my wife will give birth soon and I need to be able to take care of her and baby, not vice versa. I am so excited to start a new healthier chapter of my life.

Be patient, and take the time before surgery to learn all you can to avoid any surprises, education is one of most important things you can give yourself, stick around here, read ALL the questions and remember the answers, and be sure to as..

Your in for a MAJOR life style change, so be prepared, and holy crap, can you imagine what it is going to be like to play with the new baby, and help it grow, man, you can not put a price on that!!
