Long summer ahead
I am scheduled for surgery on June 20th @ 10:30 AM. As this life changing event gets closer, I am becoming more irritable. I wonder if this happens to a lot of people - the closer they get the more anxious? It seems like an eternity before June 20. I have so much to do before then but feel a bit depressed. You see, I am a teacher, this will be my summer. How will my co-worker react to me when we return to work? I know this is the right decision and that I will be a much healthier person. I see now that I have used my weight to get out of doing things - going to social events, etc... Does this sound familiar to anyone else? My mom will be staying with me at my house afterward. She can be very nosy. Wondering how I will handle her having "free rein" in my house. Am I just freaking out or is this normal?

It's all normal what you're feeling. Have confidence in yourself that you're doing the right thing for you.
I didn't tell my family until the last minute because I didn't them to come over to bug me. My mom can be rather nosey to. She likes to clean my house in an effort to snoop through things. She's not even apologetic when she finds out something! Oh, well, I love her anyways

Every thing you are experiencing is totally normal. Just breath deep, in, out, in, out. Tell co-workers what you are comfortable sharing. It is YOUR business. Think about coming to one of the east county support groups either at Marisa's this Sunday or at my house on Wed 6/8. Private mail me if you like. Best wishes

Yvonne,
I'm excited you have your date. Mine is 5 days before yours. I have no idea why I'm not stressing out with the surgery. What I am stressing out over is trying to get everythings done at school before I leave for the month to come to San Diego. I'm making lists on top of lists and probably will just walk out, lock the door and hope my stuff is still together when I come home.

Thank you for your kind words. I went to a single's group tonight that is starting up at my church. We were talking a little bit about ourselves and as we were talking i6t hit me why I'm so freaked out about my Mom. All I need to do is pack away the personal journals so she won't have access to reading them! YIPEE---I feel 1000 times better. It's strange to me that something as little as my mom possibly reading my personal thoughts was bothering me.

Misty,
did you go to high school here in the area? I work at Righetti. I'm having surgery in San Diego because my daughter lives down there and is in her last semester of law school.
It only took less than a week with my insurance to be approved, so you should be right behind me.

It's all normal. Remember that you always have us to lean on also. I think that you should try to attend a support meeting before surgery. It will help you get to know everyone better. Good luck with your journey. Soon you will be a looser also.

Stay Strong
Yvonne God will see you through it all. I know as a pre-op I do get more anxious and even annoyed easily, but I am trying to take it all in and ask God for strength and to guide me through. This is a very emotional time for you, try and not beat your self up for feeling the way you feel. It is totally normal. Of course a person standing on the outside might think so but unless they have walked in your shoes they really don't know. Its funny how people outside of this think all you have to do to get WLS is walk-in and say hey I want this and you are on the table the next day. Its a very stressful process and you have the right to feel the way you feel, but know it is only temporary. This too shall pass. I wish you the best on your Journey and Congrats on your re-birthday date.
