My face looks skinnier.....
I woke up this morning, washed my face, and thought it looked skinnier! AHHH! I haven't weighed myself and I've promised I wont' do it until Nov. 5th when I see the surgeon again. I'm hoping I make it because I think it will be a sweet treat!
Yesterday was tough. I believe it was head hunger, coupled with stress and boredom. My Mom brought my dogs to the vet for me for checkups and the vet found that my baby Pug, my Hudson, my pride and joy has heartworms.
I was seriously devastated. She called me from the vet and I started pacing and thinking about food!!! Total cause and effect and frightening. I didn't do anything wrong, but it definitely messed with my head.
I told my Mom to come get me and went to the vet. Basically it will take about 4 months, $1,000, and a lot of worrying for my baby to get better. And guess what the one thing I have to worry about during treatment is...
BLOOD CLOTS! The vet said it would be fatal. So, now not only am I worried about my blood clots, I have to watch my baby. I'm frightened, but he has a strong heart and I know those heartworms will NOT win.
So, that's where I'm at on Day 6. Me, my pouch Webster, and Hudson are surviving. Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Trish,
May you and Webster do really well.
As a former Pugsy owner, best special wishes to Hudson for a super quick and permanent recovery! Horrible news!
Thoughts and hugs to you all,

Thanks Vim & Sara.....
Hudson and I are enjoying a lazy Sunday and he seems to be okay. Vim, I know you of ALL people understand the pug love and what it is to lose one, I just can't imagine. Are you still looking for a new puppy?
Meanwhile, I get to move on to soft solids tomorrow...eggs, cottage cheese, etc.! I'm excited. Going to the dietician to "advance my diet" at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
My Mom is leaving today. I'm bummed about that. It seems no matter how old I get, she takes care of me and makes me feel more safe than anyone else in the world. I love that woman. And I'm hoping this process and being with me this week will continue to inspire her to work toward her own surgery. She quit smoking which was a first step and she is starting to lose some weight. She lost 4 pounds this week going on all the walks with me.
This surgery will truly be a success for me if it means my mom gets it and it saves her life too :-) A girl can wish big, right!

Poop & Eggs
Well, its been a busy day in gastric bypass land!
I pooped this morning - before I had even had solid food! YAY! Weird to be so excited about pooping. Kinda the same way I was ecstatic to pee the first time after the catheter came out, and farting is SUCH a delightful release! :-)
I had my first real meal!!!! YAY! My diet has changed - no more jello, broth, and sugarfree popsicles. I'm on two protein shakes a day and one soft protein meal. So, I whipped up ONE egg, with one tablespoon of cottage cheese and one tablespoon of light mozarella, salt and pepper. I'm no cook, but it was FABULOUS! I couldn't get through of all it - how crazy is that. My 20 minutes was up and I had to toss out half.
I walked the 1.6 around my block, shopped for the whole week, and did a little house cleaning. I won't lie, I am feeling great.
My one last holdup is my bandages over my incision. I'm afraid to take them off. I don't know why, I just feel safe with them covering my wounds. Its my last attachment to the hospital I guess. I don't know. I'll work on that.

A wedding...and work.
I went to a wedding last night - my first real outing since bypass. The bride is a co-worker....and 15 months out from surgery. She was one of the reasons I initially pursued surgery. She was so happy and so beautiful. I couldn't help but wonder if that will be me in 15 short months.. YIKES :-)
Many co-workers at the wedding - all were pleasant. Some knew, some didn't, all were curious about my absence and that felt good. Not to mention I was feelin pretty hot and sexy, LOL. I guess thats what happens when you don't do your hair or put make up on for two weeks..it doesn't take much.
Eating was NO problem and I was such a proud mama...Webster done good! We had some cheese from the appetizer trays and then a pork loin and a few small bites of mashed potatoes. I did momentarily feel guilty about the mashed potatoes, but it was THREE bites. So I let it go.
The dancing was INCREDIBLE!!! I danced my ass off. The people who knew about the surgery were so funny...they kept whispering "Are you okay, do you need to sit down"..... In a way I was just dancing and celebrating the rest of my life and I felt so amazing. I'm getting gushy again..
So, my first week of solid food included eggs, beans, chili, lentil soup (for the first time ever), string cheese and the wedding meal. I'm off to shop for my next stage...chicken and fish and turkey OH MY! :0) My Webster has been amazing, he hasn't revolted once and I feel so lucky and so frightened. If he never revolts, how will I ever really "feel" him........But I digress.
Tomorrow is work. And I feel ready. It feels like the first day at a new job, lol. I think I will mostly miss my HOURS of TT use in the last two weeks. There have been ups and downs, but I do love this website. And I wish good health and happiness to all involved...
- Trish, and Webster
