Did it say why cold turkey was not the way to go? I stopped all caffeine just from switching to decaf coffee and decaf sweet tea from one day to the next. I had a headache for a few days but other than that it was no big deal.

Debs,
I LOVE coffee and have no issue with drinking 1 or 2 cups a day but I LOVE the stuff (did I mention that I really, really love coffee).
Hot is my preference but I'll drink it cold too. I should add that I never buy coffee out - I brew it at home and I like my coffee very strong and milky.
The difficulty I found is that I wasn't able to find a decent tasting decaf. Until I hit on Dunkin Donuts Decaf.
I started mixing 2/3rd regular with 1/3rd decaf. Did that for a week. Next week, I went to 1/2 regular, 1/2 decaf - then 1/4 regular 3/4 decaf and now I'm 100% decaf (well, as caffeine free as decaf can be).

LOL Corrine i hear ya! I drink it HOT too here in AZ even in 120 degree weather!
My mom suggests doing the Maxwell house 1/2 decaf/1/2 caffeine coffee as a way to "cut down" i may consider that
Air- i assume because its just like anything else when you quit cold turkey alot of times it wont last and there are some horrendous withdrawls. I know for myself its not just a "headache" its a full on migraine, lethargy, feeling withdrawn/lost. Just to name a few. The woman featured in the show was up to 1500mg / day (like 20 cups of coffee or more) and she couldnt function without it all day and evening. For me personally, i cant function without it in the morning, after that i'm usually ok and if i'm not i usually do 1/2 cup around 5pm for to get me over that hump and doing stuff.

Guess my addiction to it must not have been as bad as I thought lol. The headache lasted for a few days and I was grumpy, more so than usual, but other than that no issues. I cannot imagine drinking 20 or more cups a day. That is just insane!

yeah i know MY jaw hit the floor when he said she drinks 1500mg /day and his MAX was what i said earlier. It made me feel better because i thought my addiction was bad but there are FAR worse people, but i do hate being dependant on it to wake me up I really do

I've heard really good things about Walmart's Great Value 100% Columbian Decaf. I'm going to try that cause as good as it is, the Dunkin Donuts decaf is pretty pricey.
But a tip, if you want to make the transition easier, I'd start with the 2/3rd regular, 1/3rd decaf as mentioned earlier. Half and half was too noticeable for me.

Thanks Corrine I will try that this weekend. Its so funny how we can actually TASTE the difference (some people say that's stupid) but its so true! I'm not sure how I'll ever give up caffeine it really helps me function even at school I feel smarter God then when I'm in clinicals I will have to drink it. I think its a pre req to be a nurse I need beth to talk me down haha

Hey Deb...
Just so you feel better...I really hate that you are losing weight! Just kidding (well, maybe a little jealous...<smiles>). I get a little jealous even though I don't want to lose any more weight...why's that, I wonder?
Anyways...it's great to know that even close to 2 years out the pouch still works for us. You're doing great, Deb...keep up the hard work!

Glad I am not the only one who ate candy. That is something I never dump on. You look great by the way.
