Hej Deborah!
Good to hear you online again - I was thinking of you when 24 hours ago I signed up to this free website: Calorie Count Plus - Free, Intelligent, Online Dieting. I'm hoping that you'll find it useful and inspiring too! Do have a look and enter some of the stuff. What is great is that you can list what you EAT alongside what EXERCISE you DO! a visual chart...
Fingers crossed for you!
Glad about your kind father helping you!
Cheers,
Vim

Hej D!
Yes, I am trying to find new "motivation tactics"!
And keeping a "slimmer" skirt to remain fitting into - if it's tight, then I must struggle on!
Good luck forward!

Most days i do ok, but the other days that i giv into the carb monster are wicked. i think i'll start it next monday. my mom's here from Maine this week and my kids start school today. whoohoo my son is so excited to goto 1st grade with his new batman lunchbox. Ahh to be a kid with worries of only what lunchbox to have is the life my daughter went to sophmore year this morning. Unthinkable to believe that she only has 2more years after this wow, mind blowing! and my minivan needs over 1000$ worth of work (thank God for my parents loans) i think life is good for me at least i'm not gaining weight and you know what i AM eating right. i love my salad now, and yogurt with cereal .... yeah i'm blessed not depressed im just blessed! well off to get the batman's lunch together

Okay, we talked about this Saturday
Kicking the carb habit and breaking the carb addiction!
Spend an afternoon/evening making all of these or some of them ahead of time each and every week:
1. A big ziploc bag of pre-made salad basics with chunks of chicken in there for protein. EAT A BUNCH, remember you won't feel as deprived if you eat a lot of salad. You've been digging on the salad, so get the basics pre-made so you can throw it together.
2. Put together in the fridge a produce baggie of mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. Get that balsamic vinegarette dressing in the fridge. Takes a few minutes to slice the cheese and tomatoes and drizzle the dressing on it. Voila: Caprese Salad.
3. Make up chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, and have them in tupperware to put on salad or a piece of bread cut in half. No crackers. Just 1 piece of bread.
4. Broil chicken breasts and cut them up. Get a chinese salad dressing and make chinese chicken salad with the basic salad stuff in the ziploc bag.
5. Keep on hand: beef jerky, nuts, fresh fruit, frozen bags of veggies (or fresh-but frozen last longer, hehe), and all the things you can think of that you like right now. This changes week by week probably but have the BASICS on hand.
Make a grocery list with just these and make yourself stick to the list. Go shopping JUST FOR YOU that trip. No kiddie foods. Just the YOU foods. Hard to do, but it's good, it's good.
Having everything there at your fingertips, or easy to make in minutes, can help you to not reach for the crackers. If you can't get them out of the house (you know you really could-give the kids a replacement!)
And use the other tool: every time you dwell on or obsess about those crackers, write down "WHY AM I CRAVING THESE?" And answer it the best you can. Write it in your journal.
Onion layers Deborah, layer by layer.

Happy to remind
I hear you on the waiting period ffor funds to shop. But hey, you'll be READY when the money is there so you can get these great tools (and yummy stuff!) ready and waiting to grab and fill you up. That will be a big step toward reducing the fixation on the satanic cheese filled cheese crackers. BTW if you you like the mozarella Caprese Salad option, I have a costco card that saves big bucks on the cheese. I'm talking great cheese that lasts a long time (I guess it's chockful of preservatives-whatever) so if you want to go let me know. You'll save money.
On breaking this carb addiction, the one thing I SWEAR is a huge key to long term success, replacement is the first line of defense. Then gradually finding more replacement foods. And, most of all, having them there and ready. That bag of crappy carbs is easy peasy to get. Grab 'em and gobble. So you HAVE to make the good stuff just as grabbable and gobbleish (not real words eh?)
You are NOT alone in breaking the addiction. I was one pissed off bitch (you wouldn't recognize that person from who I am today) when I was going off the carbs. But my pouch made it something I couldn't control. A piece of bread? Fuh-get about it. It was a glob of gumming that couldn't be eaten. Rice? Forget it. Pasta? Forget it. All the stuff that I loved to gobble became hard. So I figured I'd do what the doc said and just cut all that crap out. Well, except my secret sin of Coke. Won't go there.
Enough for today's boost of tips and encouragement. During your waiting period to shop, take a look around right now and see what protein you have that you can get there in the "ready to gobble stage" and get it together for easy access. Put YOUR name on it so the kids keep their hands off. They need to see this is mom putting herself first. I know, not an easy step, but baby steps woman. Baby steps. Put those foods in an afternoon, and it will all be there ready and waiting for you when hunger or cravings hit.
YOU ARE TRAINING YOUR BODY DEBORAH. And that's a huge step. Well, okay, a bunch of steps! But 1% at a time. That's the key. And the determination to focus on the filling healthy stuff (salads) and the key body fillers (protein).

no worries there, they are the darn carb junkies what with the twinkies and crackers adn gummy candy anything good for them they wont touch. thanks for my daily pep talk i did good today since i wasnt home all day. i ate 3 string cheese's, some greek something with spinich and cheese in it (spir....) yummy and flakly layers of whatever it was. and i finally found FAGE yogurt! so i'll mix some with cereal for dinner. I was hanging with my mom and after the 3rd cheese string she was like "are you supposed to be counting calories or something" she always was on me for eating too much but has NO clue that you literally cant overeat well you can but then pay the price haa.

imho, don't buy that stuff. Replace it with better snacks. Change their eating habbits you will be amazed on the amount of money you will save not buying junk. They may be mad at you for a minute, but in the end, they will thank you later.
If it's not in the house, you won't want it, and you won't have to watch them eat it.
<3 you.
