Dare i say this, i stepped on my addicting scale this morning and just about fell over the 1st time it read at 200, the 2nd it read at like 202 and the 3rd time 201. So i just got off of it and am leaving my number where it is for now! I"m darn near fainted and pray that Friday i see that 200! or better. The scale has moved more after my 6months hmmm weird maybe i'll be a faster 2nd 1/2 looser than the 1st part i think someone else here had that happen too. Anyway my 15 daughter Tekerya is coming home this Sunday after 5 weeks in Maine and my little Hakeem will turn 6 that day! wow time sure flies. And i've decided that while i'm taking a break from school until Aug 28th, i may join Curves and kick things up. I think my body will be thankful. I'm trying to get more protein shakes in me to see if that helps too we shall see. i'm already getting around 60-80g just from eating so i'm not sure if another 60 would be wise but who knows

heh.... you scale 'ho you! I stepped on mine too.. 223.. I misread it at first and thought it said 228 and yelled WHAT!? And then looked again.. and checked it a second/third time (what is it with us checking 3 times to be SURE??)

lol..

you are gonna so hit Onederland SOON.. I'm so very excited for you.

I was talking to someone the other day who used to live in Phoenix who was a golfer.. he mentioned that he used to drink something like 100 oz of fluid a day or more but only pee once a day due to the heat there.. What that left me wondering is, would you actually need MORE than 100 oz of fluid to keep from being dehydrated? Could that affect someone's weight loss? I have no idea how to find the answers to those questions.

I do know that on my trip up here yesterday, I drank.. a LOT.. it's a four hour trip (though i stopped and visited my Mum and Dad for about an hour.. all totaled I stopped to pee a total of 7 times!!! What a pain, but the last two times I drove to VT I didn't drink enough and I got very dizzy and sick and I didn't want that to happen. Anyway, I have dropped 2 lbs since Monday and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the amount of fluid I'm drinking.

girl yeah i think for me when i'm steadily drinking at least 100 oz a day it makes the loss more and i just cant get that every day one day its 70oz the next its 90 oz the next it 65 oz. and so on but if i can do 100oz everyday i'll be dropping them like flies i drink like 28oz in a matter of maybe 20 minutes so i have no prob drinking
great job on your loss Kel your starting to pick up too

Deb, I do Curves and love it. If I were you, I'd throw that scale out. I know you feel progress is slow, and it is slower than a lot of people on this forum, but if you tried to lose weight through traditional methods, you wouldn't have lost nearly 60 pounds in 8 months. Last time I was on Weight Watchers I lost 45 pounds and it took me a year, but I was very happy about that (of course I gained it all back plus another 10 when I quit smoking).

I hope you feel good and proud about the progress you've made, you should. You're doing a phenomenal job. Keep up the good work.

As they say about the tortoise and the hare: slow and steady wins the race. Go for it.

Deborah,
I used previously as my signature "Survival of the fittest, not fattest".
As you and I are in the same rowing boat, it feels as though we have a hard job of rowing, whilst others are comfortable in a sailing boat, floating past...
Probably it is because the mental aspect of our surgery is not able to impact on our weight loss - our minds are not free to concentrate on losing "properly". That's the conclusion I reached this morning. I am still "only" at 191 lbs - stalling for the last 4 months within 5 pounds. Your marriage leaves you "preoccupied", as do events in my life. I "indulged" in "me" time for 4 months, but that became "boring" and "selfish" for my entourage. So, I got sucked back into the mainstream, not putting myself first (have a family to run!). As I am paying the price of a stationary scale, I must inject myself with a new dose of discipline and a kick up my backside (difficult to achieve!). These "injections" are difficult to find and expensive (in effort) to come by. I owe it to myself but especially my supporters - after all, I don't want them to lose faith in me!
So, I suppose your marital situation (or lack of it) is taking its toll on you. And frankly, in a climate like Phoenix, I would either melt or more likely die! How do you cope? I could not! I need cold weather to flourish!
I hope you school holidays are a good opportunity for you and the kids to work out together!
Keep well my friend,
Cheers,
Vim

aw my dear Vim, yeah the no marriage is taking its toll on me but i'm happier this way. i agree i need me time and as i said i probably will go join Curves so that i can get the kick in the butt i need to start excersizing and there my mind will be focused on ME no kids no failed marriage nobody but Deborah. its weird how some are just sailing thru this with virtually no stalls or stalls that only last a few days or week but you and I have stall for our middle names thank you my friend for you elegant words of wisdom. O and i DONT like the heat of phoenix, i feel like i'm in an oven and when i get my nursing degree i will probably seek other locations to live i grew up in Maine and really miss the 4 seasons and all that the country has to offer
