Thank you everyone for all the sharing. As scary as some of this sounds, it's better to go into this with my eyes wide open.

Thanks again,
Carla
I am so sorry I dont know how I missed this ... Protien shakes for me are a lifesaver... they dont upset my pouch nor do they make me throw up....

as far as excercise I think I have hit that plateu of not losing as fast if I dont .. so I am starting to walk more and getting soe tonein strength training in... I am down 62 pounds in 14 weeks but the loss has slowed... so I got to get off my bootay and get started..

Mine is coming out to.. thanks God its so thick cause I might be bald by the time its over.... My Mom is a hairdresser and has done hair for 20 years... she says keep your protien intake up to about 80 and try to take vitamin E... so I am doing what she says... hopeing to slow it down .. Has anyone experienced their hair texture changing? And what I mean by that is that my hair is tangling and actually forming huge matts while in the shower. I pour on the detangler conditioner and it doesn't help. As soon as I rinse it out, and even lather some more on right before I run a comb through it, it matts up as if conditioner has never touched it. It's as if my hair has lost a certain natural coating, if hair even has that, that has always kept it from being tangley and matted in the past. I know this is because of the surgery, but I want to know if anyone else has had this problem and what you did? Also, I'm taking 1,000 mg of biotin a day, should I be taking more?
Thanks,
I know what you're talking about. Mine did that, it just feels so DEAD. I hate to say it, H-Grrl, but you may have to get it cut to take the pressure off the roots, and it's no longer alive anyway, and it will help it grow back easier. I just got mine cut a la Jamie Lee Curtis, and it finally feels more alive.

Awe, thanks Amanda and Vicki!! I've been gone for awhile because I haven't had any questions or comments lately, my hair is falling out so bad and was tangling like crazy to the point where I had to get 9 inches cut off, AND I got laid off of my job so I've been a bit depressed, but I'm accepting the situation a lil better now and feeling a bit more social! So here I am! lol

I just put up a bunch of pics in an album on my profile. I wanted to share my lil family with all of you. So go check 'em out! And Amanda...I have NOTHING on you...you're freakin gorgeous!!

Good to see you back, H-Grrl! I've been wondering where you were and chalked it up to being summer and everyone being too busy to post....I know I have been. I've had a number of crappy issues to deal with, resulting in not being on here very often.

Glad to hear things are going better for you, and am proud of you for sticking it out, and what a great reward--50 lbs is nothing to sneeze at, you're doing great, and Danita is also tearing it up. Good for you gynes!

Hi there...congratulations on 50 pounds (five F___ing bags of potatoes...lots of groceries to lose!)

Glad to hear you're going better. I am having the painful eating...I KNOW I don't chew enough (okay, they told me to chew while humming the Jeopardy song! LOL!...I can't do it!). So I suffer...BUT I am glad to be down about 50 lbs too.

GO GIRL...keep up the good work, Danita too! You two are doing great. Must be nice to have two of you together working thru this. My band was on 4-1-08, so I think about you two often, as I was a day after you. We're neck 'n' neck...congrats!

Linda

I read this entire thread. Geez! I need to get a life. I wondered if you would keep up the posts. It must feel wonderful to hit the 50lb mark. I sure wish you had been given more knowledge of what kind of nutrition you needed when you started this journey.

I have a daughter that is a nurse practitioner. She works at a weight loss clinic run by Drs. She spends her days counseling clients (or patients) on nutrition. Their entire diet is based on counting protein grams. Protein first and then whatever else you can work in. I plan on getting a lot of help from her after I have my surgery. Lucky me!
