Why is This do Damn Hard?
Hey you-all!
I loved this interchange. I have experienced the same things. I LOVE my surgery - but hate it at the same time. I have noticed all the commercials include food. I have found out that if I don't get enuf sunlight, I don't feel as good. My walks have become a neccesity - both for the exercise and for the sunlight (free vitamin D).
I get angry when I can't eat what everyone else is eating. It's a good thing I have had the RNY, or I WOULD eat whatever I wanted. I guess that's the point. Sometimes I get my husband to eat something that I want, ask him to describe it to me. I even sniff his plate!
I would just like to quit vomiting. I don't just retch, I actually vomit up food that I just ate. I can't eat ANYTHING before about 2 p.m. So, I have SlimFast (for the protein) for breakfast and another for lunch.
I had my surgery May 8, 2008 (D-Day)
I was 220 lb on D-day. I am 192 lb today - six weeks later.
My goal is 126 lb.
Thanks for all the suggestions for what to eat, by the way.

I think you and danita are probably suppose to eat the same so next time you go to the store... read the labels... and I just dont go in the cracker snack isle... I only look for things on my list......and I am not allowed any fruits or stuff till 6 months out... so dont worry about alot of that ... its alot of chicken and fish .... eggs(which make me sick that a no go for me). But it also helps you decide the best condiments... I mean they have sugar free relish and all that... just read your labels..... they have sugar free jelly .... My kids even eat this so its not bad... I do have to search in the grocery for the things I want.... but its so worth it to me.... I am the same way... I have no touched a treadmill or anything I havent excercised once... I am starting soon .. but as of today .... all I have done is walk alittle.....
NOW the diet is not easy .. you cant eat the things you used AT ALL>.. but it has really worked for me ... and for Cassie.... its a bootcamp diet... you have to focus .. and get our mind off food....
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE TO EAT ANYMORE>> NOW YOU EAT TO LIVE ...
I wish I could taken the mental strain away from ya'll I really do ... because thats all it is .. is your mind telling you to eat... when you really dont need to.. and its telling you to eat things you shouldnt ...
Try this diet for a week .... and I promise you will see a change.. I will scan it tomorrow.. and email it out ....
I have just told my self to do this ... for 6 months.... and then I can slowly add things back.... I just want to loose this weight so bad.. but I know someday I have to return to the normal world.... hopefully when I do I will be really good at controlly my calories and portions......

Amanda - your offer of the book is greatly appreciated. I've received a single sheet listing some food tips. I haven't had my surgery yet and feel overwhelmed with everything I'm reading. My surgery is scheduled July 7th. At the beginning of the week I decided I would try to drink just the protein shakes, water and my vitamins/calcium. I'm doing well, but had some watermelon yesterday. I thought it would be easier for my to already be used to eating slowly and just the protein before I have the surgery. I have bad acid reflux right now and that is what is requiring the surgery. Hearing someone comments about throwing up is scary. I already do that so much, I throw up blood. The doctors tell me this is the best cure for acid reflux as bad as I have ... but know I'm not sure. Please let me know if I just drink the protein shakes and take all the vitamins, that I shouldn't throw up. Have you had that problem?
Thank you everyone for all the sharing. As scary as some of this sounds, it's better to go into this with my eyes wide open.
I have a problem exercise much because both my knees have been replaced and I have bad arthritis because of Lupus. It good to hear some people are doing well with minimal exercise.
Thanks again,
Carla

Ok, so my hair is falling out like crazy, even though I'm getting my protein in every day AND taking my biotin, but my question is this:
Has anyone experienced their hair texture changing? And what I mean by that is that my hair is tangling and actually forming huge matts while in the shower. I pour on the detangler conditioner and it doesn't help. As soon as I rinse it out, and even lather some more on right before I run a comb through it, it matts up as if conditioner has never touched it. It's as if my hair has lost a certain natural coating, if hair even has that, that has always kept it from being tangley and matted in the past. I know this is because of the surgery, but I want to know if anyone else has had this problem and what you did? Also, I'm taking 1,000 mg of biotin a day, should I be taking more?
Thanks,

Hey M,
The only thing I can think of is since you have thick hair and it is becoming thinner right now this is causing the tangles. I have thin and fine hair and the longer mine gets the more it tangles wet or dry, no matter how much conditioner I use. I will tell you since mine has started growing back in it is going back to normal. I would suggest asking your hairdresser, mine was a lifesaver when my started coming out. Good luck.

Hey there, Cassie! Thanks, I'll talk to my hairdresser. She's very young and knows nothing about stuff like this so I'm not sure how much help she'll be, but I'll give it a shot. Did you stop getting your hair done while it was coming out? I'm afraid to go get mine done, even though it needs color BAD, because I feel that more chemicals on it wouldn't be such a good idea right now. So do I have 3 more months of this? UGH!!!

Honestly I did not stop getting my hair done. Like I said I have thin, fine hair. So to me I was going bald, I did cut it to a shorter do for a few months, and highlighted it. The lighter color made it look thicker too. I am just now starting to let it grow back out a bit, but honestly the shorter cut was so much easier I am contemplating going back. Once you weight loss tapers off some the closer you get to goal weight it will stop coming out and grow back in.

OMG Cassie, I thought it only fell out for maybe 3 months and then stopped! So this could go on for a year or more? It's going to take me more than a year to get to my goal weight! I'm gonna be bald by the time this is over and done with...lol

Mine steadily came out for about 7 months. Like I said it has tapered off since my loss has slowed. Keep you protein intake up too. I think this helps too. Good luck you will be fine. Get creative with that hair.
