One more thing I forgot to post, fruit is totally not my friend. I had one third of a banana sunday night and OMG had my first dumping experience. Needless to say I will not be having those anytime soon, possibly ever again. I see lots of peeps on here that have no prob with fruit. But I am not one of them.

thats what i'm calling you "M" haahaaa ok, so you and I know that the carb count is WAY too high i bet thats your problem too. Personally i would stay away from the burritos and stouffers BUT i am a TV dinner fool too adn you know what i found the SouthBeach is mostly carb friendly stuff (duh hence the diet southbeach) i love the Garlic Chicken/green beans or the Chicken Caprese they even have a cheese or pep pizza that is NOT loaded with carbs i think only like 24 or something. And try the Smart Ones dinners that only have the meat/veggie.
Girl i cant believe you dont like the nectars! somethin' is wrong with your tasting buds. haaa JK. i do have 1/2 tub of the bariatric vanilla maybe i'll try mixing that with coffee now and have you been Upping your fluid intake to like 80oz? or more? that is REALLY gonna help trust me sista M

...and let's not forget that the fitday thing doesn't count sugar so these numbers are probably low.

Sweetie.. don't worry.. the sugar IS in there.. it'll fall under the carbs section.. fitday just doesn't single the sugars out.
(Perhaps this has been answered already, but I had singled this line out to reply to earlier and then I never hit the send button!...
Please don't beat yourself up over what has happened in the past.. be PROUD of yourself for recognizing what hasn't worked for you so far and for moving in the *right* direction. That you are able to be here and admit and understand where you've perhaps gone wrong and recognize what it is you need to do now going forward- that's HUGE.. Major pats on the back to you, hon!

I'm sorry if you've read this beforererererererererererere
Bananas are 90 calories.
They also have like 6 different kinds of sugars in them, making them one of the hardest fruits for posties to handle, so despair not! Start with something less sweet...maybe a little (skinless) apple, some unsweetened apple sauce, a bit of pear....I think you get it. Fruit shouldn't be high on the list of foods for you earlygrrlies, but there are fruits we can eat for a change up.
Is anyone eating chili? At nearly 3 years out, it's still my staple meal. It has meat, beans, veggies--all good stuff, and for some reason, most of us tolerate it quite well. If you took a 1/2 can of chili and threw some frozen mixed veggies into it, THEN melt some Velveeta (more protein than regular cheese!) over it and nuke it up. It's pretty darn tasty and seriously good for you. BTW, string cheese rocks!
Wendy's chili is also easy on the tummy, and if you go to like Taco Bell and just order a side of beans with cheese melted on them, that too is muy bueno!
The worst things about this hellish time (who said it only lasts a week? They are INFIDELS!) are that your new pouch is touchy as shit, and that you don't know what to feed this pouch except protein shakes, everything hurts, some foods are more barfy than others.
Finally, at your stage of the game, screw the calories! Worry about getting enough water, vitamins and protein in, and screw the rest. I found that when I was newly post op my pouch and intestines hurt so badly that you can't physically eat enough calories to sabotage yourself. That part comes later, but for now, know that you physically cannot 'break' your tool. For instance, eat a candy bar? That's comin' back at ya. Cheesecake, that's soft....nope, you will be full after 2 bites, and then the fat and the sugar would make you dump like a cement truck. Anything with sugar (including some sugarfree ingredients called sugar alcohols!) needs to be avoided; food that needs to be bitten, chewed, sliced, spiced, boiled or oiled should not be eaten whether fresh or spoiled; fatty or dairy can have side effects that are scary....
Sorry, I've found that sometimes a little iambic pentameter helps the medicine go down.....arghhhhhhh.

Were you planning on sending the scanned pages via email or regular mail? I am a bit confused
If regular mail, do you want $$ to cover printing & postage costs?
Thanks hon!

Well, I didn't get on the treadmill on Wednesday and felt really shitty about it but I did get on yesterday and up'd my speed to 3.0 but could only hold that speed for 10 mins. I sweated a tiny bit more than I did the time before and I was out of breath so I was happy. My carbs and calories were high again yesterday so I'm not pleased with that, but when I got up this morning and weighed myself (Deb don't hit me...lol), I had lost 3 lbs and am down to 267!!
Whoooooo Hooooo!!!!! I think I'm out of my stall after THREE LONG WEEKS!!! I don't want to get too happy because I'm afraid that tomorrow morning, I'll be back up to 270 again..lol...as that seems to be my body's favorite friggin number. Let's hope I can keep this up. Keep your fingers crossed!

I don't know how much I drink in a day but I doubt it's even up to 64oz, much less 80oz. Am I supposed to be measuring? I usually drink out of a styraphoam cup at work and it has tons of ice cubes in it and if they melt, I dump out the warm water and start again, so how do I keep track of how much I drink? And with our tiny pouches, how do you all get in all the food AND water that you need in one single day? I'm finding it difficult. It seems to me that I'd have to drink when I'm not thirsty and that makes me want to puke just thinking about having to force liquids down. Yikes.

I don't know about anybody else, but I've been craving it lately and I'm DEFINITELY going to put my new stainless steel crockpot into use this weekend and make a pot. I've never put veggies in it, and I really don't like veggies, but I'll try very hard to put something in it that's healthy. Do you think small chunks of zucchini would hold up well in chilli? I think I can handle that veggie...at least...I like it in the stir fry you get at one of those Japanese steak houses..so let's hope so...lol

In the beginning (weeks 1-5) my pouch was touchy, but these past few weeks, not touchy at all. This is what worries me. It seems as if I can eat anything and it scares me. Have I stretched my pouch out already? I think I've "broken" it

Thanks Effie! How are you coming along, being a newbie and all? I had the WORST time for the first 5 weeks. My partner, Danita, and I had the surgery at almost the same time. She had her surgery one week before me, so I took care of her until it was time for me to go in, then she took care of me the best way she knew how, after only being one week out. I saw how miserable she was when she was in the hospital and I knew she wanted to tell me not to do it, but she didn't. We LIVED in 2 recliners in our living room. She was at one end of the couch and I was at the other. (Our couch has 2 recliners at either end.) Neither of us could lay down in a bed so we were forced to live in the chairs for 2 weeks straight. It was hell. Our backs hurt so friggin bad that we could barely stand it. I could barely stand up and walk around so Danita had to help me up each and every time I had to go potty. She took care of our "meals" and got me drinks and just did everything for the both of us.
Our surgeon had this one part of our stomachs almost "hitched up" in one part so that we felt like we couldn't stand up straight, so we walked hunched over for WEEKS. We split the one heating pad that we had, between us, but I had it the most and I remember my back sweating constantly...ugh! Neither of us could poop and we had that awful gas inside of us and couldn't get rid of it...omg...I'm starting to remember now. We also couldn't "take care" of ourselves in the bathroom when we finally were able to go, so we "took care" of eachother. You know your partner loves you when they wipe your rear-end and do it happily! I swear, I don't know how single people do this surgery. Who takes care of you? Who bathes you? Who wipes your rear-end? It also blows me away to hear about people talking about actually *doing* things and walking around and running errands at 2 weeks out! Hell, I could barely move and I definitely couldn't stand up straight, much less walk anywhere!
Anyway, we sat in our recliners and cried and asked eachother what in the hell have we done. We were so miserable but thank God we had eachother. When Danita would be crying, I'd comfort her from my chair...lol...and vice versa. I couldn't get up and walk over and hug her, but I thought of every positive thing I could to say to her. It got really difficult to come up with more supportive things to say, especially when I was regretting the surgery just like she was! Roxicette (sp?) and liquid Lortab were our best friends. I NEVER want to experience that time again. This is what scares me for when it's time to get plastics. I'm afraid we'll have to go through almost the exact same thing.
Anyway, I hope you have someone that's supportive to take care of you. It really helps. Keep us updated on your progress!
~Mahealani~
P.S. ~ I forgot to tell you all that even though Danita was only one week out from surgery and in tremendous pain, she sat beside me for 4 days and 3 nights while I was in the hospital, in a dirty, germ-infested (as she calls it..lol), nasty, uncomfortable hospital chair. There was only one night, the last night in the hospital for me, that our friends finally convinced her that I'd be ok by myself and they came and got her and let her sleep over. It just so happens that it was the worst night for me due to the lack of care that a hospital worker gave me. I actually have nightmares about it. When our friends brought Danita back first thing the next morning, I was in tears when I saw her. I was so relieved that she was there to take care of me and that I woudln't have to rely on a stranger, who didn't give a shit about me, to take care of me in the bathroom. It was one of the worst nights of my life. Danita felt so bad when I told her why I was crying. She still beats herself up over leaving me that night, to this day. Poor thing.

M, I make my chili with a can of refried beans. I have found this really thickens it up too. I am glad someone mentioned chili we eat that alot at my house too. Another good choice are frozen turkey burgers cooked on the george foreman grill (no bun of course). You can get a box of 12 for like 5 bucks and walmart, Jennie O brand I believe. I have found by the time I melt some cheese and dip it in either mustard or ff mayo I don't miss the bun one damn bit. I am constantly drinking water or decaf ice tea all day. Drinking and peeing is pretty much all I do. Find yourself a good rhythm with this I really helps. Sending positive vibes your way.
