Default Annie's song

Hey everyone...
So I've been so busy with work again I've falling off the TT train!
On Tuesday I'm going for my gastroscopy and pH study... wow. It has just hot me that this is the last hurdle to get through before my big rebirthday! After the scope on Tuesday I go home with the ph study overnight and the next day get it removed, consult with the surgeon and get my surgery date (6May) confirmed!! Nothing between Wednesday and GBS-day!!! Oh my word....
It is possible that the surgery is moved a little closer even - here's hoping.
I'm so sick of the pre-op diet by now I really just want the surgery to swing by asap. You see, I'm the hyper patient-compliant type (which will do me good post op!) but it does drive me crazy sometimes!! I am seriously craving pizza and easter eggs... but wont do it... but maybe I should just to get it out my system while I can?!

I think that since surgery is getting close now I'll just keep posting updates in this thread.

Love you all!!

An

GRRrrrRRR!! - Thanks Gwen!!

Tomorrow is the G-scope - yikes! I've had these before so I'm not too worried, but I'm still worried.. I'm so weird.
Has anyone had to have a pH and manometry study done? I'm having the pH study inserted during the gastroscopy tomorrow and it is being removed on Wednesday morning - have NO IDEA what to expect with that?? Any ideas?

Love ya all!

Default Scopes completed!

Woohoo... next step completed!
Yesterday I went for the Gastroscopy (all fine) and manometry and pH studies. Manometry was NOT fun - they insert a thick loooong tube through your nose down your oesophagus while you're awake and you have to swallow swallow swallow. Quite painful! The pH was interesting too - during the scope they insert a capsule into your oesophagus at the entrance to your stomach - this measures acids and refluxes etc and transmits to a device. This capsule will dissolve in the next day or 2, but it feels like horrid heartburn for now!

But the good news is that surgery is confirmed for 6 May!!!

On April 7th I need to start a puree diet for 2 weeks, then liquids for 2 weeks until surgery.

Here we go!!

Default Puree, soup, puree, mash

I started the 4 week prep diet yesterday. Hmmmm, I'm fed up already!
Puree'd food is just not as exciting as I wanted to even hope for! 200ml of puree or soup every 2 hours from 7am - 9pm for 2 weeks. on 22 April I start 2 weeks of liquids prior to the big day.

I'm frustrated, but will stick to it... this is my life at stake after all!!! I just wish it was more fun right now!

Hey Renee!
Thanks for the encouragement. I can't believe it is so close now - yeesh!
The diet is apparently to shrink the liver as much as possible and clean the bowel. 2 weeks purees (anything you can give a baby less than 6months old) and 2 weeks before surgery I start on liquids only- this shrinks the stomach. It's a pain in the tushi but I trust my surgeon so will follow his every advice!

I cant believe how much weight I've lost already since January... very unlike me!

Angry Insurance idiots

So I sent in all the forms and reports etc to see if my health insurance would pay... I got a call from them today to say they would NOT pay because my BMI is currently under 40. I told them that at the start of the pre-op diet it was at 42, but they said it doesnt matter, at time of surgery it would be too low so they will not cover it! I jokingly said that I will put the weight back on before the op and she said "that's fine, you can reapply when you have done so".!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unbelievable!!

Anyway, it's okay, I expected them not to pay anyway so I'm still going ahead. I just thought their response was a little bit absurd!!
