This week has been going well. Fluids are going in great....I am getting in my 64 oz. I find that I like just plain water and fairly cold. I find myself quite thirsty and it takes all I have at times not to chug the water down.
Protein is going fairly well too. I'm between 50 and 60 grams most days but the dietition would like to see me at 70 grams. I'm determined though so that is good. It's a lot of work though this eating and drinking!!!!!!!!!
Thanks goodness for beneprotein. It's a flavorless protein powder that I can add to most anything. I tried the dried milk but didn't like the flavor that it added. For anyone looking for beneprotein I had my local pharmacist order it in for me.

i miss you too, and i am actually home..all night..i will wait for your call
so happy to hear you are managing your fluids, that is something i think i got right maybe one or two days since surgery thus far and i am more than 18 months out, scary thought eh...keep up the good work girl...and you are right, it is a full time job just getting it in, but you are doing great and i know you will continue to, never heard of beneprotein, sounds like i may need to try it, started at a new gym today - grueling workouts - so may need to do protein powders - have not had to use supplements thus far, we will see.
cant wait to hear from you, and this time i will put your phone number somewhere safe so i can call you from now on too, had it in my computer and now have a new computer, so lost alot of my contact numbers and such.
love ya.

Hey
I am glad to see you are doing well. I have been following your journey closely. I will be with Dr. Nohr in April, so it is wonderful to hear from you on how things went/and are going.

Two weeks out
Wow I still have to pinch myself. I can't believe I am finally on the other side but the scale says that I am.
My husband took me out on the weekend. My kids thought that was hilarious since I am still on liquids. I was definitely a cheap date. I ordered french onion soup and ate the broth. Nothing has ever tasted so good. It was just full of flavor after all of the other bland things I had been eating. It was nice just to get out of the house for a while.
I have officially lost 16 pounds. Yay for me!!!!!!
Pain is very controlled. Just a little pulling or stretching those muscles if I move too much or too quickly. Nothing that requires tylenol or anything. I am eagerly counting down the last two weeks so that I can get back to the gym and really get those pounds disappearing.

Question for Carrie
Carrie, you mentioned that it took you 3 months to get in the protein. Can you share more? I had my Lap RNY on 3/10 and hate every suppliment I try. Getting next to no protein and am worried. Should start on solids after tues dr visit.
Any advise is appreciated.
Good Luck Tawny - sounds like you are doing great!

Hi Stacey!!!!!
I know you were addressing Carrie but some of the ways that I get in the protein are Carnation instant breakfasts, sugar free of course. (Thanks Carrie for the heads up on this I love them!!!!!) I also have tried scrambled egg no problem, a cup of skim milk here and there helps too (there are 9 g of protein in a cup of milk) Use the milk to make sugar free hot chocolate. I also used beneprotein, flavorless protein that I added to soups and puddings to give an extra 6 g of protein.

One month!!!!!!!!
Wow I can't believe that I have been on the losing side for one month now.
It seems that I waited and waited for my day to get here and now I am right in the thick of it. Loving it though for the most part.
I am trying more solids now but on the softer side. Eggs, cottage cheese, chili, yogurt, carnation instant breakfasts and fish seem to be the staples right now. I like to add a little bit of cheese to things to get a little extra protein. I am running into a problem though because I am just not physically hungry and it is hard to force myself to eat. Some things that tasted good a week ago just don't taste so good this week. I gagged an egg down for breakfast this morning for the protein, but yuck!!!!!!! Even the carnation instant breakfast doesn't taste good right now. I am still trying new things so I'll just keep experimenting.
Oh shrimp is a wonderful staple right now. If nothing else works I eat shrimp. My pouch has expensive taste!!!!!!!!!!!!
To date I have lost 27 pounds. I think that is pretty good for one month out. I am excited to get back to the gym this week. That should really make a difference too. My clothes are all getting very loose on me so it will be fun when I can go a size down. I'm scared to try though because I don't want to be disappointed if the next size down is too tight.
Oh the games our mind plays on us. When I am down, frustrated or angry I can't turn to my favorite friend, FOOD!!!!!!!!!! I never realized how much I depended on that friend until I couldn't have it. I will just have to think of other ways to take my mind off of things. Card making, stamping and of course scrapbooking in my brand new craft room. I am loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
