Talking Celebrations

We let Joseph choose where to go for dinner last night. He chose Boll Weevil. When we got there, I told him about the decision. He got tears in his eyes, threw his arms around my neck and hugged me so hard. "Mommy, you're the best mommy I ever had. I'm so happy!" My husband, John said, "Hey, don't I get a hug?" Joseph ran around the table and did the same thing with John (except he said Daddy). After the two ran off to play video games, I looked over and John had tears in his eyes. So we hugged and kissed in the middle of Boll Weevil, and wiped each other's tears away.

Angry I don't like my doctor.

On a totally different, WLS note. I got the call back from my dr's office saying that the gallbladder ultrasound wasn't urgent and I'd just have to wait until June. "Well the ultrasound was requested by Dr. Callery, and that's not urgent." So, I called back and said to the nurse that he had told me to go to urgent care because of my pain, and from there I went to Sharp Memorial ER, and was diagnosed with probable gallstones. And yes, I'm still in pain. She put me on hold and then came back, "Well the dr says if you still have abdominal pain you need to be seen." (DUH) They managed to fit me in first thing Monday morning to see my doctor.

I need to change doctors, but I'm worried that the stuff I've gotten done so far would go to waste. For sure, once I'm approved for surgery, I'm switching PCPs!

I hear ya. I have a great PCP, only thing is he does everything I want him to do and I think because I am an RN, the problem is that he is so cheap with his pain pills. My husband should have something at least strong enough to take him out of pain for bed, but they give him darvocet, 1 tablet every 6 hours. My God, that won't take care of a freaking headache, let alone spinal stenosis.

I am glad you went to the ER. I was going to post to do that. You should remind your PCP that you are a walking time bomb, and every thing is urgent until you get to the OR. Anyway, that is out of the way.

Don't cry, and don't worry, just rejoice in the adoption, and let the Lord do his work, okay?

So, looks like open for sure for you, and removal of gallbladder at the same time. Dara had that done I believe.

Hang in there.

Smile

Thanks Traci,

I have so much to live for, and I want to do it healthy. If I have to have open surgery, fine.

James, my older skinny son told my friend that he's not sure he wants me to have surgery because he likes having a soft mommy. LOL

I called SRS and found out that it won't make any difference if I switch PCPs because it's all one big medical group and my chart is there. She gave me 4 female doctor's names and I plan to check them out. Woo hoo!

Talking Congratulations!

Nancy,

Congrats on your adoption!! That is such wonderful news. And, definitely, check out those other doctors. You need that ultrasound now!!

Red face Dr. visit

I went to the lab first and got the blood drawn, and UA for Dr. Callery's requirements. Then I went in to see my MD. He was asking me all these questions and I was feeling really uncomfortable. Finally I said, "I feel like you think I'm trying to manipulate getting the ultrasound sooner." He looked totally shocked, and asked me why. Then he said, "You are in pain aren't you?" He then told me that there has to be an urgent reason to get in sooner, and although I have pain, it's not as urgent to radiology. I reminded him about going to Sharp ER. He asked about the ultrasound there, and I said, by the time the MD got to me, radiology there was closed. He shook his head and said he'd refer me to a surgeon today if I wanted. So, I told him Dr. Callery would take out my gallbladder as part of the gastric bypass, but I'm not even scheduled yet. He asked about the other things I needed to get done, psych eval Thurs. Echocardiogram Friday. I told him I'd really rather not have 2 surgeries if they could be combined. He agreed, and said he'll try to get me into an appointment for the ultrasound sooner.

I left feeling a lot better about him, but still don't really feel like we connect very well. I think I'm going to switch to a female PCP since they told me it won't impact my referrals. I told a coworker that I feel like he and I are in a power struggle and that's just not good.

Talking Feeling lighter

Ok, I'm walking proof that depression weighs more than happiness. I've been walking around all day today feeling wonderful. Yeah I'm still fat, but I don't have breast cancer, and we get to keep our sweet Joey.

My posture is straighter, I'm smiling more, and I just feel better. Even though my husband was mad at me the last couple of days over money stuff, I didn't curl up into a ball and hide. (He's not abusive, I hate it when he's mad at me.) I just loved on him a whole bunch.

I swear I feel about 300# lighter and I weigh the same. Yahoo!

Talking Close to the end of tests

I saw my therapist last night, and she's going to write the psych consult for me. She's great. Then this morning I had the EKG and echocardiogram.

This was so cool. The tech who did the EKG had WLS done by Dr. Callery 3 yrs ago, and she's looking GOOD. She said Dr. Callery is wonderful, and I couldn't be in better hands. (I know everyone here has already told me that, including my best friend, Zina!) But it was really nice to meet someone like her. She said she'd lost 130 # and varies up and down about 8 lbs. She said also she didn't need plastic surgery, because her skin wasn't loose. She said several of the staff, including the supervisor there had the surgery, and every one of them said it was the best thing they ever did for themselves.

I had completely normal results on both EKG and echo! Yeah! Only the ultrasound to go -- and the records to collect before I can get them to Dr. Callery's office. Oh yeah, even though it didn't count, she did check my gallbladder and said there are no large stones, and since she specializes in cardiac she couldn't really tell me more. She said I may have multiple tiny stones like sand. Hmm.
