So, I'm dealing with the feelings evoked by my conversation with my dad. And this past week we found out that one of our 15 year old kitties has early renal failure. It's really hard to cope with because I know we don't have a lot more time with him.

And then John (husband) talked to his mom yesterday. She and I have always had a frictiony relationship. So she tells John that she doubts I'll keep the weight off because I have such bad eating habits. But, bless him, John said he told her that my weight was "my thing" and he trusts me to handle it. Now I'm feeling determined to lose that weight and be past century by October. Not for her or to show her, but for me. More because of my husband's trust in me. It gave me such an incredible boost emotionally.

Kudos to your hubby. I'm sorry about you MIL and your kitty. I don't know if you read on another thread that I just lost my almost 15 yr old dog, then the next week tried to help save a tiny kitty and it died on my watch. That kind of stuff really tests our resolve. I hope you feel better soon.

Default I'm melting. . . Sort of

It's interesting to re-read some of this thread. I didn't make century before Hawaii, but it didn't matter. However, I realized that I didn't want to compete with one of my sisters-in-law or my own sister as far as being "smaller/thinner" than them. My sister-in-law hadn't seen me since surgery, and now I am thinner than she is. She just looked at me and told me I look great. I thanked her, and left it at that. My sister asked me how much I weigh now, I told her, and we moved on.

Funny thing is -- I've dropped more weight since Thanksgiving was over. I'm now 11 lbs from century, and thinking I just might make it after all!

Nancy, haven't seen you in a while. The competition between family and friends over weight is so silly, but very real. Good for you for understanding and moving on. Ok, start the countdown to centrury............11...10.... I am rooting for ya!
