I had my first cry in a dressing room today. I was near the mesa Avenue and I stopped in to scout new arrivals. I found a pair of the cutest white capris, the cuffs were accented with pearls. I grabbed a pair of 14s and the cutest navy shirt.
They zipped. They buttoned. They FIT.
I sat down on the bench and had a good cry.
I was remembering last September when I was in the same dressing room trying on clothes for a buisness trip. The 26 shirt fit but I traded it for a size 28/30. I wanted loose and flowing. I could barely squeeze into size 24 jeans.
And then, for the first time, I could see that I was smaller.
It was like seeing myself with new eyes. I came home and put on my bathing suit and still could see the difference.
What a WOW moment. What a WOW day. I am grateful.
And I *want* those capris. I'm going to wait for them to be on the sale rack tho. The great thing about being a size 14 is that you can usually always find that size on clearance. When you are a 14 you have other options...Old Navy....Target sizes no longer humiliate you...Kohls. Although all those stores, save Target, are out of my comfort zone and I wonder what I will do when I can no longer shop the Ave and Lane Bryant. The have been my go to stores for over 12 years.
I'm going to have to ask the skinny women in the family to show me how
