Thumbs up PollyC's Journey

Many of you already know my story but I thought I would start an official thread of my own to post my journey.

I am 33 years old been married to my sweetheart for 12 years. We have a little boy who is 21 months old his name is Carter. We were blessed with Carter through a closed adoption and have had him since birth. He is our pride and joy. We wanted kids for so long and no luck on our own.

I have been over weight for most of my life. Diabetes, high blood preasure and cholesterol all have been a struggle for me over the past 10 years.

I had Lap Rny on 9/12/07. Once I left the hospital no more blood pressure meds or chloesterol meds. I still take insulin but not as much and was able to drop the 2 oral meds I was taking pre-opp.

The first 2 weeks went very well. I went back to work after 2 weeks and they went pretty well and received a promotion. I started having stomach cramps and by week 4 post-opp I was admitted into the hospital after a week of testing including a ever so fun colonoscopy they determined that I had colitis. I also developed blood clots in my right arm from my pic line (IV). They did blood tests and found out that I will need to be on coumadin for life since this is hereditary.

Fast forward...8 weeks post opp. I feel amazing! Dropped 68 lbs! Bought a pair of jeans this weekend and they are 3 sizes smaller! My tops and jackets are also 3-4 sizes smaller. I have yet to eat food that has disagreed with me...oh wait I tried whole wheat protein pasta and that did not sit well.
But for the most part I have done extremely well with food and getting my protein in.

Thanks to all my friends @ TT for the laughs, tears and support during my journey. It will be a long road but I know I am on the right path.

YAHOO! Had follow up with my surgeon today and I am down 10 points on my BMI! WOW! I have also lost 33 lbs in two weeks when I was last in his office.
Feeling grrrreat! I got back from my trip to Southern Ca last night and had a nice time (It was short only there Mon-Wed). It was business but we managed to slip a little playtime in. What a pretty area. Really enjoyed the drive up the coast from San Diego to LA.

Greeting from Las Vegas Baby!
Well...my job has sent me to Vegas this week and what a fun place. This is my first of many trips out here. Now that I am back to work traveling has been really good. I am still drinking protein in the AM to get my jump start on my daily intake. I have been packing Necture (fuzzy navel flavor, my favorite) to mix up in my hotel room and of course I drink a Starbucks decaf- non fat SF latte always gets me going and great protein! ...YUMMY!
I have enjoyed shrimp cocktail and crab while I am out traveling.
All in all a fabulous week with my traveling pouch. LOL
I am flying back to Texas tomorrow afternoon and I can truly see/feel my weightloss when I sit in my seat on the plane...LOVING IT!

Thank you! WOW...your big day is very near. How exciting. You will come through with flying colors!
I am so pleased with my new pouch/life. The results are almost instant. I left the hospital almost completely off all meds. I was able to drop BP and cholesterol and 1/2 of my diabetic meds and I just recently dropped my insulin. Also the energy I have is amazing...I FINALLY feel like running after my little one and he loves that!
Best wishes to you for a SUPER SPEEDY Recovery!
~Paula
