Hope the first day back was a good one. I know I felt so much better when I was out with other people and being productive!

Work Week Wonders!
Well,
I went back to work this week with a little trepidation...but actually, it was pretty good! For those who don't know, I'm a teacher, and the kids were happy to see me, and I them. They behaved very well while I was gone AND got all their work turned in...God knows that made things better while I recuperated!
I was tired the first day, but after that, things have been pretty normal, as they were before the surgery. (Like, normal tired, not excessively normal tired.)
Eating and drinking have been okay. I've been doing sort of the same thing daily:
Morning: Either a Go Lean Blueberry Waffle w/ Sugar Free syrup (thanks to whoever suggested that by the way!) and about 1/2 hour later a 12 oz cup of milk or I choke down a protein shake. I also take my multivitamin and other meds.
During the morning, I drink Crystal Light.
Lunch is around 11:00, I've been having 8 wheat thins and 1 oz Mozzarella.
After lunch, I have the Special K Protein Water (Iced Tea w/ Lemon--it's the best protein I've had so far!)
In the afternoon, I have either a Zone Protein bar or an Atkins Protein Bar.
After that, more water or Crystal Light.
For dinner, I've been having things like chicken, tuna, haddock, chili, etc. I've also had some success eating a piece of peanut butter toast with wheat bread...nothing has tasted as good as that so far.
After dinner, I try to do a little more water or Crystal Light, especially if I didn't yet get in 64 oz.
I've had a pretty good week, and honestly, I feel better now than I did before the surgery. I was uncomfortable at my previous weight and now that my clothes are fitting better and walking up stairs is easier, sleeping is better, and working wasn't bad.
Also, in the midst of all this, I'm still having difficulty with the protein supplements, but I suck it up and do it anyway. I have to say, though, that I took Jeff's ( BigBearJeff) advice and added Peanut Butter to the Chocolate Protein drink and I have to say AWESOME! It tasted VERY good. With my tastes changing and smells still making me somewhat nauseous, I don't know how long it will last, but the Peanut Butter/Chocolate Protein shake is working right now! So, THANKS JEFF!
Now that I'm right back into the swing of things I feel so much better. Not to be too emotional, but I feel human, and I haven't felt that way in a long, long time. For the first time, too, I think, I deserve to feel this way, I've done the most major thing I've ever done in my life, and I know what I did was right, and totally worth it.
Thanks to you all!
-Mike

Thanks, Van!
I teach Middle School, grades 6, 7, and 8. I teach both gifted students and a study skills class for 7th graders. My schedule is somewhat like a daily seizure, but I like my job--it's never the same from one day to the next!

Dinner Tonight...
I wanted to break out of the mold tonight and have something different, so this is what I had:
1 piece of wheat bread, toasted
1 oz slice of mozzarella, melted on toast
(Toast cut into 4 sections)
2 oz of Roast Beef, heated in Au Jus from our local deli
(1 oz on each of two of the toast sections, topped with the other piece)
It made a mini Roast Beef Melt and was pure heaven...until the last couple of bites...when I had to stop eating, but it was good while it lasted!
It had 27g protein and about 260 calories! It put me at 85g protein for the day!
Here's a picture:

You've got to laugh - I'm drooling over Mike's picture of his Roast Beef Melt.
You tell me where else would people understand this?
