It's comforting to read that I am not alone in my feelings. I was told that it was likely to happen but it's still difficult to cope with sometimes. The emotional side of this journey is certainly interesting.

Mike - I wish you all the best in your new job. You deserve the best in life.

Default Normal is Boring!

Normal is Boring.

I started giggling outloud reading your post, and then it hit me.. OMG.. I think I'm probably dying from that same disease.. I get very disgusted with myself for knowing that I was much more comfortable in my skin at 367 pounds, than I am at 227.. ridiculous. BUT... I do take comfort in the fact that I have read that same feeling from numerous people on the board.

Not only do I look in the mirror and see the fat... when I look down, I do not see a difference. My brain KNOWS there is a difference.. I mean really it does.. but no matter how much I try, I just cant change what I see. I think it will grow on us.. Well.. hopefully NOT grow on us, but you know what I mean In the meantime... enjoy the clothes. I KNOW I look better in clothes than I did before, THAT I can see..

AND.. do you sit and wonder if skinny people ever get any sleep? I mean.. they have had those bones forever right? bones HURT when you touch them, sit on them, lay on them. There are times I almost miss the padding. BUT.. I do feel better (mostly).

You are so not alone in your thinking, however, I do believe you are alone at being able to put your thoughts together to form such easy to read words. You'd make a great writer if you ever decide for a 4th job

Gratz on the new job.... changing jobs is exciting. Keep me posted on how it goes!

Wow, what an enjoyable read. Just a quick note to remind you, each and every time you find that chronic, life threatening disease,.....non of us, and I mean none of us gets out of this existence alive!!!

Mike,
I LOVE reading your writing!
Congratulations on the new job...
body image...I thought I was fat at 140 in the 10th grade...so I'm still fat...so? I'm doin' the best I can...it's my reality.
hypochondria?...my co-worker friends and I have formed the Fatal Disease of the Month club...the internet has 'enhanced' our diagnosing abilities...a cough becomes lung cancer, a muscle ache--terminal crampus...about to spread to every part of the body...tired? surely its leukemia or something like that...we had this "club" before we were all connected to the internet, and our 'diagnoses' were based on what we'd heard of. ack!
I've learned to live with the face that our perceptions are all relative to where we've been and what we've experienced.

Again,
I LOVE reading your observations and thoughts.
I'm happy you're down to ONE job...
MORE FAMILY TIME...nicely done!

In the last two days, I've eaten almost a whole watermelon.

Just thought I'd share.

LOLOL!! Dude, thanks for sharing. I'm actually really jealous -- I love watermelon and bought one the other day. Unfortunately, after getting in my 3 meals and protein, I never have enough room in my daily calories to eat any I think I'm going to have to throw most of it out. Wah!!!

I should have been eating other stuff. I did get in a protein shake and part of a Kashi pizza, but when I went to have dinner, I took a couple of bites of the leftover pizza and salad and was done! (Though I was able to get in a little sugar free ice cream later, with a little more watermelon!)

I've not eaten a lot of fruit since the surgery, but I've eaten more in the last week than I have in the last 6 months. Damn watermelon--it's so good!

-Mike

PS...I just had an idea! I'm making a shake with the watermelon tomorrow!

eweeeee!!!! Mike!

Remember what Clair-in-Texas and Godsblessedme said? Hope all goes well uh or dosen't "go".

On a personal note.... does watermelon or cucumbers make you burp? Just was curious. If you don't mind answering that is.

Good luck with the watermelon shake/smoothie. Let me know how it goes and if it goes well, please post your recipe. Shounds like it would be good.
