Hey Mike! I know exactly how you feel! I too felt so wonderful when I bagged up all those old clothes and gave them away! It was like shedding my old body and making room for the new! My husband uses the closet in the bedroom and I use the two in the other bedrooms. Well, once I cleaned everything out, I have one closet totally empty!!!!!! I walk in and just look at it and say WOW!

It's very liberating to do that, and tossing those clothes represents a clear commitment that you will never wear them again!

You go girl! And Mike, you go, guy!!!!

Good luck! Don't be too surprised if your tastes do change after your surgery. I found that some pro supplements I was OK with before tasted gross after. Trader Joes, GNC and Costco will accept even opened containers fopr return if you don't like/can't tolerate the product if you have your receipt.

I went to the GBS doctor this week and their scales are measuring just about equally with my scales at home. I was really happy about that. I don't go again for 6 months, which concerned me a little, as I was thinking I should have another round of blood work in a month or so. Maybe my PCP will do it...I just want to know, you know?

Overall...things are going well lately. The weight loss has slowed WAY down and this week I keep gaining and losing the same pound over and over. I've been on plateau's before so I'm not COMPLETELY upset by it, but still--I wish it would stop hovering.

I went to Old Navy last week and bought 2X shirts and size 46 pants THAT FIT! Even the jeans. I haven't worn 46 pants since 1994. I get crazy comparing myself to other folks on here and their progress...but most of the guys are taller than me, so naturally, my belly is going to stick out more...I gotta stop the comparisons. I'm so happy, really, for everybody's success, and I need to be happy for my own successes and stop the comparisons!

I'm starting to notice the skin issue more and more. I'm definitely having plastics...whatever the insurance will pay for. I've already started documenting every little thing each time I go to the doctor. I'm not really bothered by it that much yet, but I'm forming a picture of what the future will look like and it ain't pretty.

I can feel my ribs. I can't remember the last time I could feel my ribs.

Can I tell you one more thing I'm liking recently? All these new folks on the forum! I love the way this community works and I love that these new people are just jumping right in. I also like the whole SKYPE thing, and being able to talk to everyone. I can't even tell you what an awesome day it was that day I got to talk to Gwen, Vim, Jim, and Beth. I was almost giddy. It's like catching up with old friends and it made me feel good in my SOUL. I like that deep sort of happiness!--just like Christmas!

That's all for now...just an update of how things are going.

-Mike

Hey Mike! 124 pounds in 6 months... that's unreal!!! Gotta love it! I have to stop the comparisons too... altho, even at my 13 pounds in 3 weeks, that calculates out to 104 pounds in 6 months... Not too shabby! I HOPE to do that well!!!

I'll have my first set of post-op labs run at my 6 week appt. Anxious/curious to see how they all come out.

I'll have to fire up the SKYPE thing... you have me convinced!!!

Mike,
You're doing wonderfully well! I too could use plastics, but am so hesitant to take on another surgery! Maybe when I get closer to goal...ahhhh.
The sales racks at Old Navy are my favorite...first, amazing that I can find stuff that FITS, and second, I LOVE, LOVE not paying full price...funny how when I was 2x-3x, I could spend a LOT of money on work clothes, and they never looked as nice/sophisticated/together as a $4 sale Old Navy shirt does now, lol. I think a lot of that has to do with how I feel about myself too...
I really enjoy reading about your journey, thanks so much for sharing!

That was my 6 month post op...the docs had to bring me in at 5 months. My year appointment will actually be 11months...that's okay though!

I have my "6-month" appointment next week, too. If you count it by weeks, 4 weeks makes a month, my appointment is during my 23rd week, so it is only a week early.

Mike, we are still mirroring each other! I am fighting desperately for every pound now, which is soooo frustrating. I guess it's never too soon to learn how to live "real-life" outside the golden window. I had just really hoped my window would've lasted longer than 5 months! So now my world revolves around trying to choke down even more protein (I've never been able to get much above 65g a day, but now I'm at 80) and pushing myself at the gym. I think my next challenge will be to increase my water more. Anyway, we can help each other, buddy. Push each other. Keep up the great work!
