Mike, you make some very insightful and thought-provoking comments in your above post.

I agree with you - the thought of food is always there. That is the hardest habit to kick, and I'm still kicking like crazy. I won't say it's a daily struggle, but it IS a daily thought process. I wish it weren't. I wish that RNY had also taken care of my brain. It didn't. I don't have the yen for the same things, but I do have a yen to eat.

My major tool for this is "self talk" in which I talk myself out of thinking what I am thinking.

I remember Dyann saying that it is always a struggle, and I remember thinking "gee, I hope not!" But it is.

In the end, thin feels better than food tastes, and that is my mantra to myself.

I so appreciate reading your posts, seeing your thinking and feeling your feelings. Even though I am at goal, that urge for emotional eating out of boredom, tiredness, habit, joy, crisis, anger, frustration, etc., is still there.

You have a beautiful family.
I love reading about you and food. Its nice to know that eventually I will be able to eat something again. I'm only 10 weeks out, and I didn't take my vitamins like we are suppose to, I became anemic . Better and back on track, thanks again for sharing the photos of the birthday party and for sharing you life, it truely helps others like me to read it.

Hi Rain, my "fellow" Texan. Andie, on this forum, is also from SA.

Please stay with the vitamins and whatever the surgeon tells you. It's vital to your future health!!!! You are doing so well, and I know that will continue!

I just had a little wow moment.

I was walking back into school just now. (I teach...) The doors are all glass and the sides around the doors are all glass. From a distance, I could see myself walking toward the door in the reflection.

For an instant, I turned around to see who that was in the reflection, but quickly realized it was me. I know I don't see myself the way others see me, but for a moment, I caught a glimpse of the all new me. I'm hovering above the ground, I think I'm too light to come down--I'm just awestruck.

What a nice feeling.

In other news:

My wife and I are going out tonight to see "STOMP!" We're going with the band students as chaperones. Everyone's going out to eat first and then we're going to the show. Liz's mom is staying with the baby, because we'll be in late, and we really haven't been out like this since the baby was born.

I'm looking forward to it, but not because of the reasons you might think. I'm looking forward to it because this will be the first event that I've been to in an auditorium or theater in 15 years when I KNOW I will fit in the seat. So I've got another WOW moment on the way later. (Also, I'm having stuffed shells for dinner and I'm excited about that too!)

Why in the hell did I not do this years ago? I could have saved myself years of agonizing emotional torture. I'm glad I've done it now though. I'm just glad period.

Is it possible to be in love with the moment, the way you are in love with people? I can't believe what a good place I've ascended into. (Thanks be to God!)

-Mike

Glad to hear you are hovering above ground, my friend Give it a couple months and you'll be able to sit (pardon me if this is not the PC way to say it) "Indian style" in those theater seats...

I loved reading that wow moment, Mike.

You are such an encouragement. I'm having the opposite reaction. When I saw myself in the full lenghth dressing room mirror I thought " I should be smaller then that**I feel smaller then that**

Of course I'm telling myself it's just my week to bloat.
