Thanks Lisa......It was sooooooo hard for me a tChristmas, we went to my moms house and there was all that "not-so-good" food everywhere(tarts cookies etc etc.) then we went to my dads (and the same thing)lol...It was hard not to eat those, infact I didnt even try one bite of any of them when in the past I would have ate it all So I chose cheese, but I am glad it is not a forbidden thing, since alot of things are. The orange juice, is actually wierd as I sometimes feel like my sugar is low and after I drink that I feel fine. I dont know if it is in fact my sugar or a mind craving. I know Nohr doesnt like juices, and I was far away from them until Xmas, but now that I am home I dont have any so it should be easy to stay away from.
As for the scope thing I have one booked for Jan 30. I am sure everything is fine as I can get everything I try in, but I will have it done just to make sure. I am kinda nervous about the scope as the thought of having that down my throat slightly reminds me of the tube down my nose....YUCK!!!!lol
but Im sure it will be fine. I am quite sick of Salmon and Tuna, do you have any other meet suggestions???I have tried beef and it doesnt sit well, any other suggestions would be good. I have ate quite abit of Chicken as well in soups etc, how early out did you eat ground turkey?or did you??
I have a gastric bypass cook book, just some of the stuff seams soooo different then the norm, Im scared to cook something and screw it up...lol...
any food suggestions would be GREAT!!!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey Angie. The scope thing I was freaked out about, even crying...but I don't remember anything except them asking me to roll toward them, putting in a bite thing in my mouth. Thank goodness for good drugs!
I couldn't do salmon or chicken too well at this stage. I found cooking chili was a lifesaver for me. I have used ground turkey, but beef is one of the things my pouch loves, even to this day (Nohr is shocked about this). I used my pressure cooker to soften the meat. NO WAY could I do any meat without a gravy or sauce...like tomato, brown gravy. Just make sure it not like soup! Omelette with cheese was a good one. I like Beth's cottage cheese pancakes (and I hate cottage cheese!). Pork was hit and miss until about 3 months out. Tuna?
I did lots of shrimp and cod at 6 weeks out. Cheese was a daily thing too. I even did a little sausage and turkey bacon at this stage. I was eating all foods by 8 weeks. Good foods that is.
Hope this helps....I will send you my food list - I have it posted in my cupboard, so when I need something all I have to do is look at the list! Keeps me away from the bad things!

How did you make the shrimp? I did shrimp cocktail last week and maybe i ate too quick but it HURT like hell.
Salmon was okay the first week i tried, now it bothers me.
Wendy's baked potatos are great for me... ricotta w/ a lil bit of sauce.... string cheese... slices of american cheese from like kraft are great. Mashed taters thinned out with a lil bit of milk...
Honestly I think we are at the stage of "try it" because you wont know unless you try it.. I go back to work on wednesday and Im gonna take what i KNOW works for lunch, and stick to the "try me" foods for home.
OOH wait.. mom make like taco meat... took the taco seasoning packet.. used ground turkey instead of beef.. and we used the whole grain/whole wheat chips.. THEY ARE GREAT (and the chips have 2g of protien, lol).

Shrimp, just boiled and chilled or in a stir fry. Just as long as they are not over cooked, then they feel like rubber!
Remember, what might work one day, might not the next! Give it a week and try again. My silly pouch likes heavy foods. The worst thing is a salad...too light!

I was thinking of trying lettuce....how long should I wait???
I cooked up some chicken burgers (ground chicken, soya sauce, fetta cheese) they tasted pretty good. Even my husband who likes greesey fast food burgers liked them. I am going to try extra lean ground beef tomorrow, and see how that goes.
I am finding it sooooo wierd that everyone has such different outcomes with different things.
Thanks for all the suggestions...
Angie

6 weeks out
Well I am 6 weeks out today, I stepped on the scale this morning to do my weekly weigh-in and am down 41 lbs in six weeks. I have noticed my clothes are fitting different, they just kind of hang there. It kinda reminds me of my high school days when the "hip-hppoers" wore the baggy clothes that were meant to fit properly...lol..
I have been eating properly, trying new things each day. I tried some fat-free ham, and wow, way to heavy I got sick and threw it up. So I guess ham is out for a while. I had some chili the other day as well and that was fine. I do really well with chicken, turkey or tuna/salmon. I havent tried salad yet, but look forward to that day
Hope everyone is doing great on their journey.

Angie sounds like you are doing great.........41 pounds that's great for six weeks.
I am eagerly following your journey since I am not far behind you. My surgery is scheduled for March 17 with Nohr.
Keep the updates coming and keep up the good work.
