I cried this morning!
Wow, I cried this morning after I stepped on the scale. I walked out of the bathroom and Steve says "What's wrong?" "Nothing." I was just overwhelmed after seeing my weight. As of this morning I am down to 241.6 - I have lost over 30 pounds since March, and over 15 since surgery less than two weeks ago. I may actually hit the 230's this weekend - and that's what made me cry - I haven't been in the 230's since 1997. I haven't been in the 220's since 1989 - I was 228 when I got pregnant with my 17 yr old son - I have never been there since.
I know I have a long road ahead. I know it's not always peaches and cream, as the saying goes. I know that this will probably be a struggle and battle at some point. But I just have to say that I am so thankful and blessed that I was able to do this and to have an opportunity for a new life.

Frustration!
I've been so frustrated lately. After being around here for so long, I KNOW I'm going to plateau and stall - it's a given.... but I didn't expect it to hit me this hard emotionally!
After I posted that I was down to 241 I jumped to 244 on Wednesday of last week. I stalled there until yesterday, when I went UP to 245. WTF???
So of course, even though I know it's probably normal, I'm stressing - I'm three weeks out, what if it didn't work? What if I'm the one who isn't going to lose weight? What if I've done something to screw it up already?
I am struggling to get in my water still. I am walking and doing light handweights and working on my arms. I know this will pass but dang!

really?
maybe I'm just being harsh but seriously.... 30+ pounds in 3 weeks and you are worried about a stall or that this surgery isnt' working for you? it's been 3 weeks... when have you ever in your life lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks? If anyone asked me this question I'd answer....never!
You have 6 to 12 month of honeymoon period to lose weight at an amazing speed and several days or pounds in the grand plan is nothing. Unless you are pounding back snicker bars and milk shakes, I'm guessing your body is reacting to the fact that it thinks it's starving to death!
If you are steppign on the scale daily then stop! Stay focused on the goal! Teh goal is getting in your protein, water and vitamins every day. The goal is creating a healthier you.... not a size 6 pants. The numbers on the scale do not matter.... you matter, your health matters...
Keep drinking, get the protein and your body will stop hanging on like a jealous girlfriend to the fat in your body. it needs energy to function...let it know it will get a reliable amount every day...
Walk sip rest repeat.... it's still super early in the game!

thanks Paige for the reality check!
The 30 pound loss has not been in three weeks - it's bee since March. It's still a lot for me and I am totally happy - and I know my body needs to stabalize.
I joined the "scale whores" because I do weigh daily - even before dieting or contemplating surgery - and have vowed not to step on it this week at all.
I am concentrating more on protein and am getting ready to head out for my walk.

My first "wow!" I just went shopping for a dress to wear to my kids' graduations - they both graduate Thursday - her from middle school in the morning and him from high school in the afternoon.
Anyway, I was able to get into a 1X dress!! I'm so happy!

You're doing great Karen... don't let the scale fool you! did you take measurements before surgery? i didn't want to, but forced myself to do so --- when I got frustrated with the slow weight loss, I re-measured and saw AMAZING results! In fact, it's time for me to do that again...
the 1x dress is another way to affirm progress... lots on non-scale WOW moments will keep you smiling!
love you hon!

Katie, thanks so much. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}
I didn't take measurements - couldn't find my tape! But even though I've been stalled for almost two weeks I'm fine. I have some shorts that I try on every couple of days and am able to wear them now although they're still a little tight. I was in 22/24 tops, 2X or 3X depending on the style, and 22 pants. My mom is here for graduation and to stay for a while (she'll be here till the end of July) and brought me a bunch of her tops - she was in an 18 but she's down to a 14 now. I am wearing one of her XL tops today, I wore an 18 yesterday. I can fit in her 16/18 top but it's a little snug on my hips still. I know my problem is not getting enough exercise right now. We're so busy with everything else going on that I haven't made the time to work out - mom and I will be going for a 2 mile walk tonight before the basketball game starts.
