Paige, there is no way in hell I would even contemplate that!! I would have to gain at least 60 lbs more in order to qualify that way - and I can't even begin to imagine what that extra 60 would do to me so it's out of the question!
Thanks Lynda and Jeanie - I guess I'll get to meet you Sunday, huh?
LOL, Steve swears that as long as I sleep on my back during the study I'll pass with flying colors! If that is the case, it should qualify me - that is one of the things my insurance just requested more info on but I did not have it at the time....

HOpe the sleep study goes favorable for you. If nothing else they should give you a PAP machine... I started sleeping like a baby when my hubby got one of those!...it was soooo wonderful!

I meet with the sleep doctor tomorrow morning and hopefully we'll get my sleep study scheduled fairly quickly. Other than that, no news on the battlefront.

Woohoo!!
I met with the sleep specialist today. They wanted to schedule me for this weekend for my study but we won't be home - we're going up north to see my 3 mo old niece who is in the hospital. So anyway - she is fairly certain that I will come back with a "severe" case of sleep apnea due to the questionnaire, exam and consult with me. I have a split study scheduled for the 6th and I get my results back on the 19th. This *should* be what Tricare is looking for... we'll see. I'm guardedly optimisitic at this point!

good luck with the sleep apnea test...
im hoping it comes back in your favor.
i know a girl who gained all this weight to get it done...and her parents realized what she was doing...so they wouldnt let her get the surgery they're making her lose the weight on her own..But she is very lazy i used to try getting her to come work out with me...and it was 1 excuse after another...
Anyway so this book tells you how to calculate your BMI.
you take your height in inches multiplied by your height in Inches.
yours would be: 72 x 72.
save that #.
Divide your Weight by that #. if im not mistaken you said 268.
268/5184 = .05169....(a bunch more #'s)
then take that #multiply it by 703
.05169...x703 = 36.3433...
so it would get rounded to 36. (the book says 35 or higher and other comorbidities)
Most insurances require a 40 bmi with no other problems neccessary...
but you said you have ankle swelling and pains...

Tired!
I'm home from having the first part of my sleep study last night. It was supposed to be a split study, but I never got to REM sleep until late this morning so I'm assuming I will have to go back for the second part at another time. I'm tired, didn't sleep well - was nervous worrying about whether they were going to find anything The tech said I snored most of the night, and that she saw some "things" but couldn't elaborate.
Hoping that they can do something to help me get some better sleep, and that I will get results favorable for submitting for surgery approval.
