I had a birthday party this past weekend. Most of the people at the party know I am having surgery. I actually had 2 women ask me for my clothes! lol The one even wanted my shoes! I was shocked. I have no problem giving people my clothes who need them, but damn let me have the surgery first! They even told me I did not have to wash the clothes before hand! YUK Anyone have a situation like this? LOL

Today I had my chest xray, EKG, and ultra sound. I was in and out in 30 minutes! I hope they all come back okay. I was trying to figure out the ultra sound, but all it was to me was big blobs! lol I do not know why I bothered!
Yesterday my husband and I went to a 4th of July picnic at my cousins home. This was the first time I had seen most of my extended family. I decided to tell them about my surgery plans. My cousins were so supportive!! I was very pleased with their reaction. I am the youngest of 11 grandchildren, so they all have lived through my weight struggles. The only one that made a fuss was my cousins wife... Hell with her, she married into the family! She is a twig too! lol
My mom is coming around. I think she is just nervous. I am her only child, so I think she has good reason to be nervous. I am talking about it more, and telling people, so I have noticed she is coming around. I am addicted to Big Medicine. I want her to watch it, but she will not. She does not want to see how they do the surgery! lol She is a chicken that way. My mom did ask my why I am telling people and my response was "Why not"? This is my decision and I am proud of it! I have nothing to hide! If someone has a problem with my decision, hell with them! They have not walked in my shoes.... My mom said I should not say anything until it is approved with the insurance. But, I have been telling people it all depends on my lab results and insurance approval.
I meet with the nutritionist next week and have my 4th appointment with my PCP... Moving right along.....

I had my 4th PCP visit today. I lost 2 pounds! YIPEE!!! She had the results from my chest x-ray and ultrasound. Chest x-ray is clear!!! I was kinda nervous... I have smoked for many years.. My ultrasound showed gallstones and a fatty liver. She did not seem concerned. She felt it would get better with the surgery. I am hoping my liver will shrink with me eating healthier. I will have to see what the surgeon says. She did not have the results of my EKG, but she felt it was fine because it was good during my sleep study. I have my appointment with the nutritionist tomorrow. I am marking things off my list of appointments!!!!! This is such a GREAT feeling!!!

I met with the nutritionist today.... She was so damn skinny I wanted to puke! She did not have the best sense of humor either. Made me just a little uncomfortable... She did approve me for the surgery on her end. She went over a few things, and gave me information to read. I was hoping for more about what I can eat, how to eat, etc. Honestly, I have learned more from this forum and from all of you who have had the surgery on these questions. I really felt like she was just doing another evaluation and pushing me out the door. She did say she would see me the day after surgery... What the hell for?! To make sure I am sipping my water? I guess it pissed me off that this was such a big part of the process and it was a waste of time for me. But, it is over with, and I am getting closer and closer daily. I will just keep reading posts and learning on my own! Thanks everyone!!!!

My husband called me today to tell me his dad got his results back from a heart test he had done and the news is not good. Not sure exactly what the results were (they are going tomorrow), but the news he knows is enough to scare the shit outta my husband.
He actually told me the first of the year, he wants to start consults for WLS!!!! I guess I am a little shocked in a way because he said he would never do it himself. He has been 100% supportive of me, but he said it was not for him. I guess the news of his dad's heart condition and the fact that my husband is over weight has put some fear into him. There are a few other relatives in the family that have heart issues, so I am thinking it is hereditary. He wants to wait because he wants to make sure I am okay with my surgery. How nice of him!!! I was a little excited about the news, so I wanted to make a post!!

Endoscope Today
Today was my endoscope. I had just got back from Atlantic City late last night. Had to be at the hospital at 11am this morning. I was scheduled for the scope at 1pm. I get into the room around 11:30am. My husband had to work so my dad took me. We are sitting in the room, a nurse started an IV. Another nurse came in to ask if I had my EKG. I told her yes, with the other pre-op testing. Since I had gotten it done at another hospital it was no where to be found. The nurse was calling the surgeon, PCP, and location where I got the test and no EKG. She brings in the machine to have me get another one... I told her my insurance was billed and I would have to pay for it. She ended up calling the hospital and low and behold she found the EKG. Then it took an hour for them to fax it. I was getting soooooo frustrated. Then another nurse kept coming in asking if certain dr. were in yet... all I kept saying was nope! The surgeon came in talked a few minutes and he said he was ready, he was waiting for the Anesthesiologist. Still waiting!! I wanted the entire episode of The Young and the Restless!!! lol Finally, the Anesthesiologist came in. She asked where my urine screen was. I said I did not know I had to do one. She said well you may be pregnant! With my dad sitting there I was so embarrassed! lol I said I know for sure I am not. She then said how?! I told her because I have not had sex. She said it did not matter! LOL At this point I am thinking this bitch is crazy and she is hitting the meds! I was thinking to myself 'I am not the Virgin Mary'! So, back into he bathroom I go to piss in a cup! They had to run it to the lab, they could not do the quick stick test because of a state audit. So, half an hour later... NEGATIVE! I got in an "I TOLD YOU SO"! The procedure was 5 minutes. The dr. said everything looked great. He approved me for surgery. Said he would call in a week withthe results if I have reflux.
Monday is my 5th PCP appointment. I am in the home stretch!!! I am so excited it is hard to find words. I read everyones storys, look at pictures, and posts and I am so inspired by all. I am not wait until I am on the bench!!!!!!
Till next time.....
