SO my staple line is really red! Is this normal? Getting in fluids and food no problem, walked 2K today, then had a little nap! Been out walking again (or rather shopping) with Andy & my mother today whilst the car got an oil change. Forgot to eat lunch so got some potato and bacon soup at Sobeys and ate it all except the big chunks, no problem!!

I have an appt with the Dr Thurs am to get the bloody tube and staples out, its a bit early for the staples but if not I have to wait another 5 days.

So Andy didn't say anything to me but someone rear-ended him in my car whilst I was in surgery, he only told me last night as he didn't want me to worry or stress. Needs a new bumper but thats all. Supposedly the guy that hit him in MH is going to pay, I guess we now need to see if he is true to his word!

It's weird it's like I have had surgery but I was expecting more problems really with the food/water thing, I guess I should stay positive and keep going!!

2 km...you are 8 days out of OPEN surgery...you are crazy girl, but if you body is letting you do it, well so be.

Regarding the incision, you will go through stages of it healing. I kept mine very dry, except for the shower until after the staples were out, then started with vitamin e and polysporin. Keep an eye on it, you don't want puss and such. The next stage later this week will be scabs on the incision and really, really itchy.....all normal.

British in my case!!!!!

Discovered that chick peas all blended up with broth actually makes a yummy meal!!

The only wierd thing I have noticed is that I am having a real battle with staying warm, its like +20 here in the day but cools at night still (sometimes to a frost as we live so near the mtns) and I am just freezing. Andy thinks it's probably because I am not getting enough fuel in, but I have plenty of insulation!!!

Down 11lbs as of this am!!

Samm,

I am so glad you had your surgery! Woohooo....things change so fast from here...it is exciting...I can't believe how fast your body changes...I was a believer for all the same reasons as everyone else....but wow...it really works!
Take care of yourself..sip, walk, rest and repeat....and let us know how your doing!

Default You're doing great!

One tough Brit! Gee, those staples look scary- I'm not sure they still use them in the states. As far as food & water goes- don't look for trouble. I have had no real problems either, thank God! (Maybe I have just enough of that diluted English blood in me!) Once my incision got to the dry, itchy part, I started smearing it with cream- my favorite is shea butter based and scented with Tasmanian Lavender! At 3 months out it is a red line,no scabs, etc. Oh, and I get chilled easily as well;Andy is right, it's due to lower fuel consumption. I figure I may not need air conditioning this summer!
