So for the past week I have had a issue with a vein in my leg ( I have the most hideous varicose veins) anyway one turned into a hard lump and has been giving me grief, so as we were away camping/riding for 5 days I put off going to the Dr, I went today and I have was told I have DVT, so I had to go straight up to the hospital and get heparin shots etc, I have to have an ultrasound tomorrow and then back to the hospital for more heparin daily.... this sucks ass, I feel great and then some crap like this has to happen
I am active etc so this is really frustrating and bloody painful, I will know more tomorrow. My Dr is off but is worried enough to come and see me (which is sweet of him) he is worried about a pulmonary embolism and has told me to not do anything, so no biking, horse riding or anything, which sucks too. I am feeling sore and sorry for myself today........

Wow Sam...it's a good thing you found it early!
I've got awful varicose veins too...for now. I'm going to see a doctor at the end of the month to have them taken care of hopefully. They do an office procedure now that I'm hoping will work--I'd hate to have to have the stripping surgery.
Good luck--and be careful! Let us know how things are going!

Hej Sam!
What bad news and a lousy way to have to spend 4th of July! But, the early bird catches the worm - glad your doc found out early enough to prevent possible drama!
Chin up - you are on the way of recovery!
Cheers,
Vim

Hello! Well update on the clot..... it is a blood clot and the good news is is that it is in a superficical vein so no risk of it breaking off.... I am done with the heparin shots and am taking small doses of anti inflams. Saw the Dr yesterday and he is refering me to a vascular surgeon to sort out the topography on my legs!!! Weight wise I am down to 172, which is good.... 12 to goal..... size 12 now, some 10's too! Constantly forget to take my vitamins... (bad girl) but all my blood work is perfect.....so I am not sure if I need to take them??

I have an appointment on Tues with the vascular surgeon to see what can be done with my topographied legs! The blood clot is still there, for now and not particuarly bothersome at this point....
I am stalling again weight wise, fluctuating up and down 2-3lbs at a time which is fine but I'd like to be in the 160's here soon!
I have decided to upgrade my Opticians license to a contact lens fitter/advanced practice Optician. It means lots of money to put out for the courses (2 years) but I should make another $15 an hour once qualified. I need another goal and I think a work one is in order!?!
Very healthy this end apart from a stupid summer cold, I sound like Bonnie Tyler (just don't ask me to sing!), hoping that will go as I have 4 races to ride in the next 2 weekends and it would be nice to be able to breathe!

Ooooooh...... blood clot so not cool. Sorry I never knew about this until now. Am glad to hear that it's not overly serious though.
Good luck with the contact lens fitting. Sounds exciting. Kind of reminds me that I should look into getting contacts again. I had them back in 2004, but never kept up with them. *blushes* Need to get my eyes tested too. *sigh*
Good luck with the races too!!! Hope you win!
*hugs*

Hej Sam!
Tough on the clot business - hope it gets solved really asap.
Go for the contacts upgrade - I cannot live my life without them! Daily disposables!
Cheers,
Vim
