Well here I am back from Whitefish MT. Had a great time and lost a few lbs too! WOOT! Something awful happened on the way down there though..... just north of Waterton national park we drove by what looked like a truck set up in a field made to look like a "If you speed this is what will happen to you" type scenerio. Anyway, as we drove by we saw movement so I spun the SUV around and Andy ran across the ditch and into the field closely followed by me. The kids stayed in the SUV watching a movie. Anyway there were 4 teenage native girls in the truck, one had been expelled through the back window whilst it was rolling and the other 3 were trapped inside. The truck must have rolled over many times to get so squished. Cell phones didn't work but luckily someone else stopped who had Onstar so they called EMS etc. Andy & I have first aid training but what we saw hit us hard, 2 of the girls had lost a hand each in the crash, all 4 had head injuries, all were still bleeding profusely etc. we made the girl in the bed of the truck as comfy as possible with a sweatshirt for her head etc, the driver was delirious and the girl that was worst injured (front passenger) was waving what was left of her arm around. All Andy & I could do was to keep them conscious and as calm as possible as keep the remainder of her arm up to try to stop the blood loss. I took nearly an hour for EMS to arrive and another 15mins for RCMP! We gave a statement and left, since discovered that one was 12 and one was 14 and alcohol was involved (stupid cows) the 2 young ones were airlifted to the Childrens hospital in Calgary. At least they survived but what a hell of a lesson to pay for their stupidity. Our kids were explained fully what had happened and the reasons why (alcohol/drugs/driving etc) and I think as gross as it was they have learnt a lesson themselves to take with them into their teenage years.......... Andy & I were pretty shook up over this and I can still smell the accident (if that makes sense?)

Sam, how fortunate for those girls that you and Andy stopped and had the skill needed to keep them stable until help arrived (an HOUR???). What a horrible experience for everyone and all because of someone's stupidity to use drugs/alcohol. The driver will have to live forever with the guilt of what has happened to herself and worse, the others that were with her. I just don't know what else to say, this has my heart torn for those young girls and yet I'm so mad too. WOW!!

Samm what a horrible way to start your holiday..........and an unfortunate way to learn a lesson. You should be commended for stopping though. Those girls were fortunate to have your help.

Hope the rest of the holiday was uneventful and relaxing. Did you do lots of shopping down there. I love the American shopping!!!!!!!!

I would love to do something like be a paramedic but the fear of relearning/school puts me off. I had a really good talk with my boss today, he really doesn't want me to leave the company, I am still a bit undecided what the hell to do! Too much stress in my life right now, coping with it well apart from at night, I am living on 2 -3 hours sleep as too many things are in my head! Tonight I might just take a T3 and crash!
