Talking Omg Finally!!!!!!

Ok this is something I have to share with ya'all In 2002 I filed my divorce papers with the court and just never finished them cause there was so much to go through and all with court hearing and child custody and all that even though there was no custody issues and I did not want child or spousal support from the husband so anyway I just kinda let it go and never finished the process the husband and I never fought about anything and there were no issues as to my daughter living with me he took what he wanted which was just the Big Screen TV and I got everything else well as the years went on we went about our own thing relationships and what not and well before I knew it we had been seperated for 8 years and my daughter was 18 and graduated from H.S. so I thought well now that she has graduated and is 18 there is not court issues with child custody and doing all the paperwork myself I figured it would be easier and there would be no court hearing or anything. So I pulled up the Amendment forms from work (I am a Paralegal and I do have access to all the court forms) so I filed the amendment and after my paperwork being rejected for one reason or another I finally got it right I waited 30 days after service to the husband and then I submitted the Default Judgment package on October 13, 2006 and then the clerk scheduled a Default Prove Up hearing this had to be done she said because we had been married for 10 years and 7 months she said if it would have been under 10 years she would have been able to enter the judgment but since it was not I had to go to the default prove up hearing...I thought great ok so my date was set for yesterday April 19th at 9:00 am I had told the husband to not respond or anything it would save him money and since we were not dividing anything or had any issues over anything it would just be a smart thing to do so it was a default, so anyway I went to court yesterday morning and was sworn in under oath bcause the 3 questions the judge had to ask me had to be done under oath for the record so she reviewed my file and said well Mrs. Espinoza everything looks in order, I just need to ask you 3 manditory questions for the record so I said ok, She asked me 1) At the time of the filing of the papers were you a resident in the country for at least 6 months prior to filing the papers? my answer...Yes. 2) After the time of the filing of the paperwork were you a resident in the country for at least 3 months after filing the paperwork...answer....Yes 3) Is there anything that you feel the court can help you with to mend or reconcile your marriage? my answer....No.

Ok you are done.....She said as of today's date you are now returned back to Single Status!! No 6 month waiting period I am divorced. So yes folks, after 8 years of being seperated and 5 years after filing the divorce papers. I AM FINALLY DIVORCED....can I get a Whoop Whoop!!!! Yayyyy for me......Needless to say the boyfriend and I were very excited last night we celebrated with some wine!!!! I am so happy I finally finished it, it is not like I did not already feel like I was divorced but I can offically now say I am Divorced.

Thank you all for listening to me I am so happy I had to share it with ya'all!!!

Big Congrats Flea. Wow I didn't even know that. I guess I learned a couple of new things(well old) about you. I didn't know you were a paralegal or in the process of a divorce. You learn something new everyday. That is one less stressor in your life. Big hugs. I miss seeing your face around here.

Congrats, I know from personal experience that getting that official decree is a big weight off the brain.
Have fun celebrating with the bf!

I know right Jeanie....I am ready now!!! Its funny cause knowing that he will eventually pop the question I get nervous everytime he says "I know I don't have to ask cause I already know the answer" and I say "what?" he says "Are you hungry?" I swear I am going to get so used to the question that when its the real question I am not even going to be paying attention...lol.
