My mom's amazing story.
I haven't had it done yet but, I'll share my mom's story.
On November 22, 2004. (I think '04) Wanda (my mom) had open gastric bypass. She went home after two days in the Hospital. Her doctor was Dr.Nye.
Through every Doctor appointment and everything, I was there. It was a bumpy road. I'm home school so, I was the one taking care of her afterwards. I fixed her broth and jello meals. Gave her water and had to empty her drain pouch. (A small bulb from her stomach that drained blood) I was there to watch the pain and tears when she cried.
About February (I think) of 2005 she started having fainting spells. So, my dad drove her to the hospital where she had gastric bypass. They waited in the ER waiting room for two hours. After two hours she fell on the ground and had endured a cardiac arrest. The reason being, they pushed drinking water so much that it flushed out her potassium and magnesium. That Friday my mom pretty much died.
I was at a friends house when I got the news. So, because my friends mom was so loving, she rushed me over there. Took about forty-five minutes. (It's was a two hour drive) There I stayed in that hospital for a week and a half with my mom. She had died and was living off a ventilator. After four days of being not so much alive. She finally responded to our voices. Then eventually woke up. By the next Friday she was able to get off the ventilator. By the next Monday into a normal room and out of ICU.
In her normal room they were pushing med's through a hole in her neck. When the student nurse went to give her med's, my dad asked to see an RN. By then she'd already pushed one. We later found out it was the neighbors med's. To SLOW DOWN HIS HEART. So, my mom was almost completely killed again. About Wednesday she was able to go home.
Now she works doing taxes and still deals with me, her teenager.
