Better today, I hope!
> As you may know from a couple other threads, I was sent home with practically no instructionsfor after the full liquid stage, just a verbal "soft foods for a few weeks, then introduce others as tolerated". (I do remember I was warned beef might not work for a while.) I didn't mind it at the time, but when you're in the doctor's office it's hard to remember everything you're told (accurately), and remember to bring up any questions you have also. Thank God for this Forum! Not only can you do the surgery yourself with the instructions provided, but who needs support groups, journals, diets, etc?
>So, I've tried protein supplements in the past- a few years ago. I'm convinced they are a gift from the anti-christ, but I've decided that I have to bite the bullet, for my own good. I went to GNC and got their vanilla powder- the girl said it was better than the chocolate, which can taste chalky. I figure I'll get some frozen fruit and try some smoothies- can't hurt, right?
>Had a nice, soothing bowl of Cream of Wheat for supper last night. It was just the ticket! I made it with milk instead of water, added a tiny pat of butter for flavor, and Splenda. Happy pouch! Yesterday I had an omlet for breakfast, will have another this am, as it was happy in my poor pouch. I'll probably have hot cereal again for supper, get in a protein smoothie. Lunch will probably be cottage cheese.
>Effexor...I had gotten the prescription changed to 2 tabs/day instead of the 1 capsule. Well, with this sleeping problem I've been having, I did a little research. It might be related to the Effexor, specifically the tab at night. Now, I know this makes me a bad girl, but I stopped taking the second one at night. Last night was the second night I skipped. It was the best sleep I've had in days, if not weeks! My doctor had increased my dosage at one point last year, so I thought it wouldn't be too terrible to decrease it. I was prescribed it to help w/compulsive eating, and at this point I think that is not such an issue. (Who can be a compulsive eater with a pouch the size of Paris Hilton's brain? ) I can't be compulsive any more, but I do need to think it through when I put something in my mouth! Anyhow, I'll keep taking the one tab after breakfast every day until I see my PCP in May- I don't want to short-circuit my brain!
>BTW- I was suprised to read all the warnings about how hard it is (supposedly) to get off Effexor! Fortunately, my dose is not that high. Google some of your prescriptions- you'd be amazed!

Pouchie is better, now the lower GI tract is having a fit!
>Okay, I went back to soft- but kept in some of my more adventurous soft foods, like the Palak Paneer. Nope, had the "runs" for 2 days now. I'm going back to chowder, chili, and eggs, with some cottage cheese thrown in for giggles. I'm going to stick to the early stuff for a week, see if I can lasso in this pissy plumbing!
>TMI- unless you're a girl! I still have one spot on my incision that still gets a bit sore, especially when I walk or drive a lot. Now, "the girls" are not very big- I'm a B cup. So, I haven't been wearing a bra for like a month, you know, 'cuz the incision actually starts at where your bottom bra band would be. Well, for 2 days now I've worn my loosest, comfiest bra. Guess what? No ache! It occurred to me that the weight of even my small bazongas was pulling on my incision where the flesh is thinnest- at the breastbone almost. This part of the incision has been the last to heal completely also. So, girls, I would stronly recommend wearing something, even if it is a cami with a built-in bra, something to control the ta-tas. I'm sure that folks who have lap don't have as much of a problem, but for those of us who have open, this might help. It took me this long to figure it out because I just started serious walking this week!
>Geez, I tried an Atkins Advantage bar, and my guts are making enough noise to sound like a cornered badger! I hope it stays in long enough for my intestines to suck the protein out of it. I may have to get some Immodium or something. Otherwise, I feel well, no vomiting since the deli turkey.

>I found something that stays down (and in, if you know what I mean) besides cott. ch, eggs, and Cream of Wheat. I've only had one flavor so far:
South Beach Diet, High Protein Cereal Bar, Peanut Butter. It has:
140 calories
5 grams fat
Total carbs= 15 grams (dietary fiber,3 grams...sugars, 6 grams...sugar alcohol, 3 grams
10 grams protein
Sounds pretty good, tastes pretty good. It has 25% of your daily B vitamins too! I think I'm in love!

Cee, try their (atkins) breakfast bars. YOu can get them at CVS.. walmart and target. They sit really really well. A lot of the atkins bars, even some of the South beach ones don't sit well but the breakfast bars do!

>You know how we've all read here that what goes down nice and easy one day won't on the next day? Well, I had seafood chowder last night, sat very nicely in my pouch. Had another mug for supper tonight- it is sitting there right now trying to decide whether it is going to move on or not. Only difference is, today I'm getting my water in later rather than earlier in the day. Maybe that's the clue, maybe that's just the way my week is going! I had a half egg- half egg beater omelet w/cheese for breakfast. That was fine, though the first bite actually seemed to make me slightly nauseous. That passed after a minute, I waited to take the next bite, then it was okay. I was hoping this week would be nice and settled, so I can go back to work on Monday w/o worrying about a pissy or picky pouch! Well "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".
>It is hard for someone who enjoys shopping like me to not be buying clothes right now. So, what is a girl to buy? I went to the outlet mall for the 3rd time this week and bought a portable hot water heater at the Coleman store! My honey and I are camping in an unheated log cabin on the 1st week of our honeymoon. (NH,Columbus Day weekend this year!) This gizmo runs off the same propane the Coleman stove and grill run off of, comes with a 4 gal. container, heats water in 1 minute hot enough to make tea! Have you boiled water on a Coleman stove to wash dishes? It takes forever! There is also a shower head attachment (sold seperately)so you can give yourself a quick shower if you want! Turns out that the girlfriend with me has their collapsible, portable grill, she just bought the carrying case for it today. Well, we can borrow that for the honeymoon, and she can borrow the hotwater heater when she goes camping! I love a good trade-off, don't you? What does this have to do with WLS, you ask? Nothing! You're a captive audience!

Back to work yesterday!
> And I had to jump in with both feet, no "easing" back into a routine. Boy, was I bushed when I got home! I was asleep at 9 pm.
>Tried 1 scrambled egg from the caf here at work. Nope, didn't stay down. Lost my rhythm, didn't take my vitamins close enough to eating, they came up too. I hate sliming at work!!!
>Joined a gym yesterday; I found out that I get a discount through my employer, comes out to $6.70/week. Pretty cool, huh?
>Weighing in tonight, first time since surgery follow-up on 2/23...everyone holding their breath?

Back to an old post of yours. I weaned off effexor and I feel a whole lot better. Not as foggy. I always chalked it up to the depression and that was just me.
Now to address your new post. You're killing me I want to know how the weigh in went last night!!!!!!!!
Hope to see a new post soon.

All right, I've decided to edit my signature
>Seeing as I go to TOPS every week, but won't see the surgeon until May, I've decided to use my TOPS numbers. So, at my last meeting on 2/6/07, I weighed in at 328.6. Last night I weighed in at 293.8! That is a total of 34.8 lbs. Not too bad- but I was hoping for closer to 40. Never satisfied, huh?
>Still sleeping much better w/o the evening Effexor, and no noticeable withdrawal symptoms.
