>Tagalong? You mean the drain? The nurse practicioner tried to get it out but couldn't- and it hurt! She went and got my surgeon back in the room, he had it out in 2 seconds! No pain, but it felt really weird, like a weasel running through my innards!
>Oh yes- I can return to work on 3/19/07. My team mates are thrilled! Honestly? I am too; I'm one of the lucky souls who likes her job!
>Came home and rested, then went to the local animal shelter. Nobody there suitable for us; I may go into Providence tomorrow.
>Went grocery shopping too! Think soft, think protein! Bought the makings for my chowda for tonight, 1% cottage cheese, part-skim ricotta, 2% Kraft American cheese, powdered milk, ff/sf cocoa. Tomorrow, I have a small chicken, and I'm going to make chicken soup! (Have I told y'all that I used to cook for a living?)
>Nope- can't go shelter hopping tomorrow, it's my high maintenance day! Nails at 9, toes at 10, hair at 1:30. After the last couple weeks this is going to feel soooooo good. I tell people, I don't have children, I have nails instead!
(Don't worry- I have 17 nieces and nephews!)

Default I feel like a girl again!

>Had my nails, toes and hair done today; I feel like a new woman! Now do you think I'm looking for a change? I usually get some type of dark red polish, conservative enough for meetings, seminars, etc. at a large insurance co. Well, I don't go back for 3 weeks yet, so I decided on something wild: "Teal the cows come home" by OPI. Yup, it's teal blue, and very pretty! Rock on!
>Today I had another egg w/1 slice of cheese for breakfast; lunch was cottage cheese with Benefiber and Italian Mrs. Dash! I'm learning what my pouch will hold. So far, because I am still healing even if I feel pretty good, I am concentrating on maximizing my protein intake. When I pureed my chowda last night, (and it wasn't bad!), I made sure I got a lot of the fish, and I boosted my recipe by adding some powdered milk. Another tidbit from the board- add powdered milk where you can to boost protein. I'm actually suprised by how much protein there is in milk! Oh, and I used evap. skim too in the chowda!
>Now I'm pooped! How do we know when we're overdoing it? I feel okay, but just a bit wispy, if you know what I mean. I can tell my energy level is not quite up there, and the fact that my honey forgot to drag the dirty laundry downstairs has made me very happy!
>Still waking up in the middle of the night, but last night I went back to sleep faster. I was able to turn on my side a couple times!
>Like others have found, it works best if I stop drinking 1/2 hr before I eat, and don't drink again 'til 1/2 hr later. For my medications that need to be taken w/food, I try to wait 45 min or so after eating. It's even better if I dow the chwable calcium first; it seems to cushion the pouch for the multivitamin.
>My "seam" as I've taken to calling it, has gotten itchy. I remember my mother saying when I was a kid that an itchy boo-boo is a healing boo-boo.

Smile 2 weeks post-op as of today!

> I'm still feeling pretty good! (Knock on wood!) I think I tried to cram a little too much into my Saturday, so yesterday I played lump, even managed to nap in my comfy chair, surrounded by the remains of the Sunday paper. Not of a lot of ambition today either, so I will lie low and watch the pretty snow. (You can call it pretty when it's 5 inches and not 5 feet!)
>Tidbits: Incision healing nicely; most of the glue and half the scabs have come off.....Poo is good; I add a tablespoon of Benefiber to something if I think I need it.....Still a bit of an ache where the incision is, but I'm fine w/just Tylenol PM at night.....I'm sleeping on my side again!.....Oh- slept through the night last night!
>Last night we had Indian takeout. Don't worry- my fiance does the hot curry, etc., not me! I got Palak Paneer; it's cubes of a type of handmade cottage cheese (think tofu) in a creamed spinach sauce seasoned w/cardamon. It comes with a side of jasmine rice, but I was too nervous to try it so early. The Palak Paneer stayed done nicely! This morning I had oatmeal w/Splenda Brown Sugar blend. I wasn't sure if I would dump on it or not, but I didn't, thank the Lord!
>I wonder if I'm eating too much, or if I am getting in enough of everything? My dinner portion last night, and breakfast this morning were more like 1/2 cup than an oz., but I take at least 1/2 hr. to eat. How long does it take the average pouch to empty? Well, I'll keep on as I am for now, protein first! (Oatmeal may not have been a high protein brkfst choice, but it sure tasted good!)
>No, my surgeon did not provide me with any dietary requirements, lists, etc, didn't suggest/require a support group, nada. I think I'm smart enough to figure out the diet myself, and I do know there is a support group that meets at the hospital once per month. Maybe he only gives info when asked? Or seeing as I'm so well adjusted (Hah! Fooled him!), he doesn't think I need it? I don't feel like I need a support group anyhow, this forum is waaaaaaay better, more conveniet, and available 24/7, as we are all in different time zones!
>For the first time, I'm tempted to weigh myself. I want to see if I've gone under 300 yet, but I'm telling myself to wait until my TOPS meeting on 3/6/07.Yup, I'm playing mind games with myself,, but think how good the loss will look after another 10 days!

Still loving the updates. I can only hope that my surgery goes just as smoothly when it happens.

The waiting to weigh would just kill me but the awesome reward on that scale will feel so good.

I too love your updates! Its all in the details (WOW.. I just had wicked deja vu looking at "Its all in the details"... ) anyway.. I do not own a scale.. and I am undecided on whether to buyone for after the surgery.. Might be fun for the first couple weeks... or it might drive me crazy!

You seem to be doing so well!

Default Thank you everyone!

As I said earlier, I was hoping this would be helpful to some folks. I'm sure it usually does go smoothly practically all the time, or they wouldn't be doing so many, right? Plus, I'm a frustrated writer! I was very well informed going in; talked to friends who had gone through it, relatives of patients, this forum. When you have all the info possible, it makes it less scary, and you can go in with the positive attitude that is so important to recovery.
