Default Update

Hi gang.. I thought I would pop on to check on you guys. Had to catch up on all the births.. WOWZA... all those beautiful babies!

Update on my life? Lets see.. I STILL have a huge ulcer. The pain of which still drops me once in a while, but as long as I stay on top of the meds, I do ok. I am on Nexium twice a day, Carafate 3x a day, and Pepcid once a day. The good news is, other than vitamins, those are the only meds I take.

Been on a stall for quite a while now, but I'm oddly calm about it. If I didnt lose another pound, I'm happy. I still plan on losing another 40, but apparently am in no hurry to get there. Right now, I eat things that feel good on my ulcer.

My surgeon hasnt been a huge help with the entire ordeal. My ulcer doc said its directly caused from the surgery.. my surgeon says.. "it will heal". I've been on these meds for months, and I think its getting worse. I go back to the ulcer doc in a few weeks.. probably have another scope to see if its grown or shrank.. and to find out what we are going to do next. I really dont have much information on the whats next part.

The ulcer literally consumes my life LOL... I eat to please it, I lay right to please it... *shrugs* but I'm getting used to it.

I got a promotion a couple months ago, and went from having no responsibility to being able to shut down our entire plant if I screw up LOL.. lets just say the increased responsibility brings a ton more stress.. and my ulcer doesnt like stress...

Other than that.... got a new car.. pretty happy at the moment..

Hope you guys are all doing well! Keep in touch! (jenbear7@gmail.com)

Jen

Have any of these braintrust doctors checked to see if you have H. pilorii, the bacteria that can cause ulcers? Many ulcers can be cleared up by taking a course of antibiotics. An ulcer that large needs to be watched carefully--if the erosion hits a decently sized blood vessel, it's not pretty, that's all I can say.

Other than that, good to see you back, congrats on the promotion, glad you're doing well in other areas of your life, and WOW on the weight lost. You've lost a good sized human being!

wtg, Jen!

Thanks guys

As far as the H. Pylori goes.. I dont have any. The ulcer doc did a biopsy when he found it.

I've been home for a couple days nursing this little sucker. My general doc changed all my meds yesterday. Took me from Nexium capsules to Prevacid melt aways, from Pepcid tablets to liquid pepcid, and from Carafate Caplets to liquid carafate. they are thinking maybe I'm not absorbing enough of the meds to help, and maybe the liquids will be better. So far.. so good. The pain is better today.. it gets silly tho! My next appt with the ulcer doc is 9/22.. my general doc is going to call him today to see if he can get me in sooner..

And. she put me on liquids for a few days to give my tummy a break

Your doc is very wise--liquid Carafate is like gold! It will really help, I'm sure. Helped me tons when I had my GI bleed. In one way, it's too bad it's not H. Pylori, it would be so much easier to fix..but the liquid Carafate will work wonders. I'm glad you feel better today. Lynda's right, we do worry about you! ((hugs!!))
