Still waiting on the results of my CT Scan. Will try getting ahold of the doc again tomorrow. It still boggles my brain that I dont have an ulcer, but the ulcer meds make me feel SOOOOOOOOO much better.

Special thanks to my Carrie... for listening to me when I was having a rough night (my little girl cat died). You have no idea how much better you make me feel chickie!

There are several ways to fix this problem most of them are painful. The newest one is called a stomaphyx and is still experimental here in the US although there is a doc in Ohio that has done a lot of them. As to what causes it...my current surgeon said coudl be becasue teh stoma was not made small enough to start with... of course my operting surgeon sadi its' absoltuely nothing to do with that....

part of the problem with enlarged stomas is they dont' allow for the pouch to grow/expand over time and that causes the rapid gastric empty process which brings on..blah blah blah

My enlarged stoma is the cause of extreme dumping syndrome, gas like crazy and the hypoglycemia...most likely.

I also had an issue with GERd, althought Janie/suzy was the queen of that one.

I take prevacid and pepcid twice daily, I'm very careful how I eat..the right combinations and that seems to keep things at least partially under control.

Good luck honey and I hope you feel better soon
Paige...this is my world, exactly. The only difference is that I never got to goal, I can eat too much of the few foods that don't cause me to dump. My pouch is tiny, my stoma is 30 mm. Not good. I liken my pouch to a tube that food shoots through and goes into my enlarged and ulcered intestine "stomach". Cool, huh?

Actually its not very cool at all.... I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Have you ever had a conversation with your doc about fixing it? There was another gal on this forum...named Sharon that had a similar problem and went in for a revision and was/is doing better.

Talk to yoru doctor, there are solutions and some of them are realy good. NOt sure what state you are in but if you can find a doc that does the stomaphyx it might be a solution for you. Theres an excellent doc in Columbus Ohio that trains teh US surgeons to use this new device. I can send you info if you like.

let me know if i can help at all....

Wow.. guess I really havent been on in a while.. just thought I would post a quick update. Mike got me wondering about everybody again, and I realized how much I missed!

I am down 124 pounds since I started my journey. The last few months have been very slow. but I'm ok with that. I feel fantastic again. I never get "full", and truthfully that bothers me, but if thats the worst I get I'll deal with that too.

The last time I was on I was not doing so well.. I was throwing up too much. The ulcer meds did help with the pain, and I still was throwing up everytime I had a BM. Wellllllllllll long story short, they think I had an infection in my large intestine, and a little bout with some antibiotics when I had double ear infection, strep throat, and a sinus infection must have cleared that up too.. because one day it just stopped. Its so awesome to not throw up lol. The funny things we take for granted.

I am getting ready to go on a third interview for a promotion at work. Its down to me and one other person... it would be a HUGE promotion so I've been keeping busy getting my crap together. Also been quilting some, crocheting, walking, and playing an online game (I'm an addict, but dont tell Trina LOL).

I'm also working out again. When I felt like poop I mostly stopped (which is probably why my weight loss was so slow again). I started walking again a few weeks ago, and now Im doing a cardio vid daily again. Right now its 24 minutes, but I'm almost up to doing the next level..which is 48. I love the program (its called slim in 6 by beachbody). She takes the time to explain things, and I dont feel like a bumbling idiot doing it!

I probably wont be able to catch up on all the posts, but I hope everyone is well.. and I'll try to keep up on the new ones! Gratz to all of you that have had your surgery in the last couple months!

I'm happy to hear you are feeling better. I know you were miserable for a while there. Come around every once in a while and say hi will ya? We worry when we don't hear from someone.
