Jen I think I will write down those behavioral modifications you are working on and will join you. I know that Dr. Nohr doesn't have his patients do that but it will be good practice for me. It would also be good help should I decide to get a referral to the other doctor here in Canada who does have his patients do some modifications and weight loss.
Work hard at it girl the goal at the end will be so worth it!!!!!!!!

Working on is the key word today.. I did "ok" I spose, but I wasnt 100%.. and its bugging me. I am moving.. so when I stopped to grab a bite to eat.. I didnt feel like taking 20-30 minutes.. I didnt drink with any meals tho.. so I feel pretty good about that, especially since I think thats going to be my hard one! I really dont care for applesauce.. its "ok" but eh.. not one of my Favs.. BUT.. I had some with dinner tonite.. so I could have something wet in my mouth LOL. I am truly pathetic.
I really dont see how I couldnt lose following those rules.. I guess we'll see.. The good thing is.. as I am getting used to them.. its not 100% required.. (or is that a good thing?? Hmm). So if I slip up, I'm not sick, gives us a chance to "prepare".. it at least gives me something to think about..
Thanks for your thoughts.. and everyone else's too..

Getting easier??
Well, I was just sitting here eating a fake omelet (you know. those eggs in a carton ).. had fat free cheese on it (which .. I hate to admit was REALLY good!).. and I threw some shrimp in it for protein..and I have been working on the behavior mods..specifically setting the fork down and waiting between bites. I made the equivelant of a 2 egg omelet, and didnt finish it in my 30 minute time frame! ME!!! I just THREW FOOD AWAY!! *Picks myself up off the floor*... I was looking over my fitday entries, and I am really not doing too bad...
AND to beat all.. I got out of work today and thought to myself.. "Self, you're going to walk tonite".. and I did, got home, changed my clothes, threw on my sneakers and a sweatshirt (yah.. it was 40 here today WOOT!). and walked up the street. The sidewalk was a mess, so I turned back at the store instead of the tracks. So I probably walked .75 miles instead of a full mile.. but Hey.. I'm still pretty happy over it!
I got my stress test scheduled for Feb. 28th, and Im PETRIFIED of failing! I wonder what I have to do to pass? So, I know not to give up before that point! I kind of know what to expect, but still.. the unknown ya know!
I'm just about all moved into my new pad.. loving it for the most part...

Jen,
I think you're doing terrific! Practicing with pouch rules is definitely a HUGE bonus! That is EXACTLY what I have done to diet this last year. I figured that just because I couldn't get approved for the surgery, didn't mean I couldn't practice the rituals...ya know?
Of course, my portions are wayyyyyy larger than my stapler sistahs, or I'd be starving to death. But all those things you mentioned: setting down your fork, getting protein in, eating three meals AND the exercise are all the things that I needed to incorporate into my life. And don't forget the water!!! Start sipping water all the time...it abates the hunger and it is very, very important for you. I attribute at least 20 pounds of my loss to drinking water all the time.
I'm just so darned proud of you for working these things into your habits ahead of time! It's going to really, really payoff, girlfriend!

Funny! The other night I measured out 1/8th of a cup of what I was eating..and almost burst into tears! Then I ate like 10 times that amount and was fine....but yah, I would starve to death to... altho.. I really cant wait to give it a go when I HAVE a pouch..
So ... are you on permanent denial....or are you waiting for approval?? Cuz you have really lost a GOB of weight without the surgery! And you should be very proud of that!
Thanks for the kind words!

yahooie - way to go my Jenbear, you are doing so amazing, so proud of you!!!!
its funny how an eighth of your portions now want to make you cry, cuz after surgery, watching how much other people REALLY can and do eat is what can make ya cry!
way to go girl, keep up the good work, i know its not easy, but you are doing amazing, think of how much easier it will be to adapt to the changes afterwards, not so much will be new to you and so you will be able to deal with all the other changes, so great you are helping yourself before surgery, not everyone has that kind of will power - so awesome - love ya.
