Just wanted you to know that because of your post I am going to see my doctor for some bleeding I've been having that I truly feel is related to constipation...but was concerned because of my father's colon cancer (you know those what-if's)...and I log onto TT and the first post is yours! So...thanks for the push!
My prayers are with you and your family/friends!

Hi Cathy!
If you don't mind me asking, how is your Dad? My MIL has to do 6 months of chemo... 6 days a month. That seems like A LOT to me. My son (he's 7) plans on shaving his head when her hair falls out. He is such an awesome kid.
I am so glad you are going to go to the Dr. Catching these things early is key..not that I think you have anything worse then constipation, but going is a good thing!

Sorry to say, but my Dad passed away 8 years after the initial diagnosis of the colon cancer. The combination of waiting for 1 year before seeing the doctor...then once the cancer was found and removed the doctors said "Oh, we got it all...no reason to do chemo/radiation" where prior to surgery they told us that no matter what they found he would need chemo and/or radiation as a precautionary measure. Eight years later he passed away from the colon cancer that moved to his kidneys.
That is why I was so happy to hear that you MIL is going to get chemo! I go in today and see my doctor...I really feel all is well...just concerned. I didn't want to come so far (getting healthy: losing weight and exercising) to ignore any other health issues...so a clean bill of health will relieve my mind!
Take care and please keep us posted!
Cathy

Oh, Cindy, I'm sorry you're going thru this, and please give your husband my best wishes...I'm sure this football season won't be much fun for him this year, either.
There was a rumor going around at Rain's party that you were going to appear, and I waited and waited....but I understand not being in much of a party mood. I know we haven't met IRL, but Sweetie, as a fellow Corgi owner, I'm very willing to listen, give you a hand, be a friend to you. Call me, pm me, whatever.....I'm here, Cindy.

Sorry to hear about all the stuff you guys are going thru. I hope that the lump is nothing. It's not like you guys need yet another thing to worry about.

Cindy.. my heart goes out to you and your family..how stressful these last few months must've been for you all!
I am sending you good thoughts that all will be well with that lump you have.. glad you're getting it checked out! I know you'll keep us updated!
As for the cancer... my dad has survived three different cancers over the course of the last 20 years.. each time, he's been given X number of days or weeks to live and he's survived and thrived after each of them.
The last bout was esophageal cancer.. and he had a mix of chemo/radiation that had a grueling schedule. Mind you, the guy is blind and my mom doesn't drive so he had to take 'senior wheels' to all his appointments, but the schedule was 1) hospital for chemo, 2) travel across town for radiation at a second clinic..3) home where the visiting nurse came and hooked up this bag of more chemo that he had to wear at all times when he was at home, except for showers. He did the trips to the hospital and clinic 5 days a week, for several months (four, I think?) last winter. Prior to starting this regime, he was given six weeks at best.
He had his checkup two weeks ago and they cannot find a trace of cancer in his system.
My point in telling you this is to know that YES, it is grueling but it can be so worth it, and know that if your MIL can keep a positive outlook, and believe that she can beat this, that it can really help a lot. My dad believed he was going to beat it and the power of positive thinking can work wonders.
{{{hugs to you}}}
