Yeah, that would be great! We should see what she thinks of your idea. I am always off weekends though there are some that I have to be oncall. A Saturday would probably work the best since that is when hubby is home for the kids. I usually have to do a lot of running around with my girls during the week.

I'll have to know ahead of time to try and work around a weekend.....unless we squeeze it in sometime before I go back right before Thanksgiving. I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to travel after my surgery, but I can see how it goes. Damn shame I wait to have surgery so I can travel!

Well you just let me know how you are feeling and we can go from there. I do have some options during the week the problem is that DH works nights so he is sleeping if the kids need to be taxied around.

Ok, let me see how much it does me in and how soon I can drive. I'm nervous about the pain.

awww, Marty...I don't blame you for being nervous. I would probably be a wreck right about now if I was looking at PS. You do what you need for yourself, right now. We can meet when the time is right. If it isn't until next year, that's okay. By that time maybe I'll be as skinny as you, and needing some PS myself!! *L* I am more than willing to play this by ear. It just means a lot to me to think that you would like to meet! I think that's something rather special.

Nawwww, it isn't going to take us a whole year! We'll figure it out before then. I wish us Northerners weren't quite so spread out too. We have NY, OH, PA, IN, IL, and you......and I'm sure a few I missed. Then we have a few FLA and of course Alabama. Well, I always did want to visit every state.

Default Today was a great day!

Well today was a really good day! It was a beautiful fall day here in Michigan and I took a really long walk. I pushed myself walking a bit more than I have and challenged the hills in the neighborhood. I was tired when I got home but it really felt good.

Someone from my church stopped over with 2 bags FULL of clothes! She was such a Godsend since I don't have much to get me through these cooler days. I was thrilled to find that all of them fit me and that I was down to a size 18 pants and an XL top!! I honestly can't remember the last time I was in that size. What a major boost to my self esteem!

Then to cap off the day I received the exciting news that a friend finally got her surgery scheduled and she is having it in only 3 weeks! I really am so happy for her. I am so excited for her future because I know what this surgery can do for you. It has honestly given me LIFE and I want so much to be there for others who will be walking this journey too.

Default Appointment with Sleep Clinic

Well I am 3 days short of my 8 month anniversary. I had an appointment with the Sleep Clinic (doctor was none too pleased with me. He said he wanted to see me at 6 months post-op NOT 8. Oh, well I tried.) Anyway, I was so hoping to hear him suggest that I get another sleep study, hoping I could finally get rid of my bed partner. No such luck. He decided to bring the pressure down from 8 to 6 and see how it goes. I hadn't been able to wear it for the past couple of weeks because the pressure just felt like it was too much, popping my mouth open through the night and it kept waking me up. For those who are on CPAP waking up with a dry mouth in the morning is one of the signs that the pressure is popping your mouth open because its too high and it is time for an adjustment. So they lowered it to 6 so I guess it's back on tonight. I'm really hoping that I am still having trouble with too much pressure. He said the next drop would be to 4 and when that felt too much it would be time for the sleep study. I know I've stopped snoring and I would think losing 137 lbs must be doing some good!

Well I guess it is just time to be using that patience again. I got real good at being patient waiting to have this surgery for over a year. I guess I can wait to get rid of the 'ole CPAP machine. At least I am making progress.

Default Big decision!

Well I made a really big decision today. For me this is really a huge step out of what has been my comfort zone forever! I can see changes in myself not only physically but huge ones mentally. Others are noticing too. I have found a confidence in myself that I haven't felt for such a long time. Honestly I can hardly remember a time that I felt just really good with myself.

Well my big step was to send in an application for a job as an RN in my surgeon's office. Ever since this surgery I have felt this growing desire to do something active with not only my nursing skills but also my experiences as a SMO person (that's super morbidly obese! ) and one that has undergone wls. I honestly believe I have something to offer. In a lot of ways I am one of those "success" stories. The other day the surgeon who is the director of the burn center that I work on just couldn't take his eyes off from me. He just kept shaking his head and telling me how wonderful I was doing and how proud he is of me. He made some comment that I really should be the "poster child" for Dr Baker and that he should pay me for it! *L* Well at the time he didn't know that in someway that is exactly what I had been thinking. I feel so much like working in Dr Baker's office is where I belong. I honestly haven't had such a strong feeling about a job since I took my original job as an RN on a Burn Center...that was over 29 years ago and it was one of the best things I have done for myself. Now, I'm wondering if it is time to minister to another type of patient population, one that I know so well, they are my brothers and sisters on a level not everyone can understand. My application has been sent in and now it is in not only Dr Baker's hands but more importantly God's hands.

Default 8 months post-op

8 months post-op and this is the way my weight loss has broken down so far.

Pre-op: 17
Month 1: 28
Month 2: 11
Month 3: 20
Month 4: 11
Month 5: 12
Month 6: 16
Month 7: 10
Month 8: 12

I'm really hoping I can keep up with at least 10 lbs a month. I'm not sure if I'm hoping for too much. I'm really just waiting for that slow down they talk about after the 6 months. Thankfully I haven't seen it yet.
