Carrie, I agree...go to the Med Hat Hospital while you are there and they may fit you in for a scope. Nohr has a strong history of strictures at 5-8 weeks, so that may be developing and since you are there, no time like the better.
He is a good doctor and done many many surgeries, but doesn't have much aftercare or information for his patients.
I am not sure if Farries in Red Deer will take you unless you are in an emergency situation...but if the vomitting continues, go to the Red Deer Hospital...at least there is a bariatic doctor that knows about your anatomy.
Remember....you head may want to you do all the normal things, but your body may not...its still healing!
Let me know how it goes girl.

k, i am home, have to be quick, trying to get everyone ready for school tomorrow and bed soon
not a stricture, issues with my bowels
as for food, blended and liquids only until 8 weeks, i can try foods, as long as i puree them, just as i was told upon leaving the hospital after surgery, no chunks not until after the 8 week videoscopy appointment
doing better with fluids, still not enough, but each day i gradually get more, was told only three meals a day, no need for protein shakes as long as i am getting my three meals a day, no snacking and to drink water as my choice of fluid, i will follow this as close as possible, but will take lisa's suggestion on the s/f popsicles as extra fluid and sticking with propel as well, also i have tried Nestea Zero, goes down real well, will have that once in a while...but it sure was good on the drive home tonight
gotta run
thanks everyone

Carrie, if you feel hungry, make a smoothie with milk and yogurt and throw some vanilla protein powder in there. It fills ya up really well and will last longer than just clear liquids. Believe me.....I know considering I had an ulcer and didn't get to eat anything solid (not even pureed) until I was over 3 months out. I believe alot of it is a psychological issue too when you KNOW you can't have solid food. I felt I would starve. Now that I can eat solid food, I don't want to. It's too much trouble, would rather drink my food. But I force solids because I know I need the nutrients and I need my pouch and bowels to learn to deal with "real" food again.

thanks trina, i have been using vanilla whey protein powder when i can stand it
but i am doing okay with blended foods too now, yesterday i got in 707 calories and 47 grams of protein, i know its not enough protein yet, but i am getting there, had i not been on the road and away so much i could have added a protein shake and will next time i notice i havent had enough protein
i mix the powder with banana yogurt and milk, tastes better and adds a little more protein with the yogurt
my friend makes her breakfast smoothie with cottage cheese, yogurt, goat milk and whey protein powder, she says it tastes great, i havent tried this yet, but will soon....anyone else use this recipe?

Carrie, so glad to hear the issues are better. Nohr....funny that he seems to give out different info to his patients...thus I really think he needs to get his opinions on paper so that we understand what to do. He told me full liquids for 8 weeks on consult and then after surgery to start adding in new foods at 3 weeks. When I had my scope at 6 weeks, he told me to go eat seafood. Funny man. I know he doesn't like the protein drinks....but its one of the rules that I don't follow along with the milk. All others I follow.
You did super yesterday for food and protein. Way to go!
Take it easy.

yes i agree, he should be more specific too
he did give me a sheet for my doc and one on diet- not alot of info, but it does say blended diet for the first 8 weeks
i didnt have to do any liquid diet pre-op or anything
his only comment to me was i was about 20lbs under the weight that he typically does the surgery for, and that was at my consult i was 239lbs, day of surgery i was 222lbs, i get the impression he thinks i dont need as much for food because as he put it "im not as big as most of his patients", that shouldnt matter should it? my bmi says i was severely overweight and even at 25 pounds less, it still says i am severely overweight. He said he will scope me at 8 weeks and not before unless i cannot keep anything down consistently.
well off to work now, have a great day.

doing much better with the food thing - 604 calories today and wow 54 grams of protein
vomitting at times, still getting to know what to eat and what not to eat
and was so surprised, i could actually drink today, not teeny tiny sips anymore, actually drink my cup of soup much easier, hopefully that keeps up
