I just had a very long talk with Carrie and to let everyone know she is hanging in there. I have spent numerous times trying to get her to go to a different ER to get help but now understand and share in her frustration in why she is not going to ER anymore, unless it is for fluids, as that is all that they help her with when she goes. She told me that she has tried everything to get the help she needs and is now waiting. She said that Dr. Farries and Dr. Nohr are aware of her condition and are working together in getting what she needs. If she heads to Medicine Hat to the ER it would be a waste of time right now. Dr. Nohr is working with Dr. Farries and knows that she is getting the test she needs. Carrie feels that she would be wasting her time and money going down there. Alberta health care does suck at times but there is not much Carrie can do now that she hasn't done already. Carrie speaks very highly of her forum family and is very grateful that her forum family has been so concerned. Right now she is waiting until the 15th for her CT scan and she said that until that time she has to keep on going for her family. I met Carrie a couple days after my surgery in the Red Deer hospital and immediately knew that she was one special girl. She speaks highly of everyone around her, she is always positive, she is a great mother, wife and friend. I wanted to reassure everyone on the forum that Carrie has done everything she possibly can to keep herself going and is aware that her health comes first. She is frusturated with the system and has hit a dead end everywhere she turns. She feels that waiting for this test is her best chance right now and that is why she isn't going to the ER and waiting. Right now she is at home with her family and just relaxing and going day by day. She has started to take pain killers so she said that she is quite groggy but the it is helping her manage the pain. She is getting some fluids and foods in as best she can. Carrie has kept tabs on me for the last six months and has called me to make sure that I was feeling okay and starting tomorrow I am going to be working with Carrie in Red Deer part time so it is my turn to keep tabs on her and keeping on her if she goes downhill at all before the 15th, but for right now I am going to just be there for her. I told Carrie that everyone has been waiting for her to have a response back and concerned on the forum and Carrie said she hasn't been on the computer all that much with everything that has been going on so I said I would let everyone know how she is doing.

Default Thank you!

Thank you, Daisy! So worried, thinking the worst, glad it is at least the same and not worsened. Just give her our best, please. Will wait and watch and hope, as Carrie's family is doing as well, I'm sure. Thanks for updating us.

Thanks for the update Leah. Glad she is taking the pain pills, and that she has you to peek in on her now.

I was remiss in my duties as a long distance sister..but I wasnt on much this weekend. I have to curb my desire to slam the canadian healthcare system.... Leah basically said all that is going on.. I am grateful shes there to keep tabs on my Carrie.. Carrie is training her at her job this week.. In case she has to miss any length of time, and so she can go to appt's without feeling like she is going to lose her job. (and Leah is doing great so far according to Carrie.. so. YAY!!!)

For her to take pain pills (as funny as it was to hear her rambling).. she is in tremendous pain. The one thing you need to know about her is that she is a mom above all else, and she wont take them when she needs to be a mom.. she plans on being "clean" during the week, and a "druggie" on weekends between now and her scan.

I talk to her daily... mostly multiple times a day.. I promise if there is anything worth updating I will.. in the meantime assume things are status quo... shes in pain and dealing the best she can until she can get to her tests...

You guys are the best. If thoughts and well wishes alone could bring a cure..she would have been well months ago!

jen is right you guys are the best

i am still hanging in there, took pain meds over the weekend and it took a while for them to wear off, i get a kind of hang over, well lets say spacey feeling when on any type of narcotics, lasts for a couple of days, so today i am back to a less spacey self

i got a letter in the mail yesterday for my appt on the 15th, the time i was told and the time on the letter is different - go figure - was i expecting anything less? anyway, i will phone the number on the letter and confirm exactly when my appt is now - taking all this as it comes, trying not to be angry, one more week! I can do this! I am positive it is gallbladder, and the docs dont feel it is serious now, as "it would have progressed by now."

again thank you all, i had no focus on the weekend couldnt put two words together without slurring them all weekend, but on a positive note, the meds helped the pain , sorry yous were not updated until sunday, thank you Leah, much appreciated, i am okay, i will be okay and all because yous are so amazing, i have said before and will say again, you all give me strength, i love you all, and yes duckie i wub you!
