Basically that was it for the first 2 weeks for me. I tried protein drinks, but could not do them at this point. I can now. If you can disguise the protein powder into things, even the better.

S= snack.....Nohr doesn't like snacks, but at this early out, I did them to keep up my stength. I drank about 8-16oz a day of propel or herbal tea at this point...I had a hard time getting in any more. Hot cocoa made with splenda and milk powder.

Hope this helps.

At the 2-3 week mark, I added in scrambled eggs, puree anything, soup that was blended - few chunks, oatmeal, cereal, cheese, a little fish.

Key thing is to eat very small, keep up the fluids, take your vitamins and rest.

Michelle, I know what Carrie is going through as we have the same doctor. Pre-op he basically said small portions, no milk and the rest will come. On discharge from the hospital, you get a 2 page sheet for your own doctor and on there is 2 lines about eating.

What I learned I learned here and from the dietician that I requested. Its very different here in Canada. I did buy 2 GBP books pre WLS and they helped very, very much. I took the info in here and asked the dietician, the doctor and my thinner times friends.

My surgeon was forthcoming with information, but only if I asked.

I would slow down with the vitamins for now. That is why you have a dietician - they tell you what you need and when.

Just worry about getting better (day by day) get your proteins in - even if it's in small portions. Also, fluids - don't forget those.

My favorite drink that I found after surgery as I have mentioned before is Brambleberry tea from Starbucks. It goes down well, soothing and is chucked full of other good nutrients.

I still don't have a total eating regimen down, but I have noticed that every day is getting better and I tend to eat more.

My day may consist of eating cornbeef hash for breakfast - high in protein and also very soft to eat. Maybe try a softly scrambled egg with melted cheese - also high in protein.

I did not stay on soft foods long - maybe two days after surgery, than after that I was eating regular food. It's the stubborn Scandinavian in me - but it worked for me.

I also ate cheese, and that ended up being my best friend for several weeks - until I started to break off and try other foods.

Don't worry, your frustrations will come to a halt - mine are slowly disappearing as the days go by.

Also, I have read articles on gastric bypass that if you're not hungry - DON'T EAT! Which I've learned that the hard way.

Take your days slow with eating small portions, chew, chew, chew, relax - consult one of us for a shoulder to lean on, and get those fluids worked in.

Do not freak if you can't get all the recommended doses of food, drink etc... in one day. This all takes progression!

Handle what you can, and go with it.

Good Luck

Thanks Michelle......this support for me has been my lifeline and I would be lost without it.... There are NO support groups anywhere near me and nobody in my town of 3000 has had the surgery.....there may be a few down the road as they are going for consult and I hope to cheer them on. I can tell you if I every lived in the town where my surgeon is, I would be volunteer for him to educate patients in the hospital on post-op life! That is if they would ever let a nut like me do it!!!

Best vitamin to take are childrens chewable Spider-Man complete. These are the only chewables that are packed with lots of goodness, and they're not sugared down.

Get 60 tablets in a bottle - worth the money. Also you need to only take 1 tablet per day compared to many that suggest two tablets.

you're so right about getting info from dr. nohr, its like pulling teeth, he tries to get out of the room so fast that I kept having to talk to his back then he would turn to talk, but if i was too slow with thinking up the next question, he was gone....and no plan and nothing on what is normal, i even asked what to expect, he says as tolerated?, then asked to watch for, he says fever and vomitting and left the room before i could ask anything else.....so glad i have all of you, i would be so lost, and actually i would have backed out, because three weeks before my surgery i was completely freaking out so i went online search on msn and typed in gastric bypass surgery, dr. nohr, medicine hat, alberta......and i found...one link to a page called......Lisa's Story, I clicked on that..... brought me here, PM'd Lisa, she has offered me advice, friendship, honesty, her personal email, and so much more, then I started reading everyones stories on here and started posting, there is nothing more supportive than this site and I truly believe there are angels among us and I found mine.....Lisa, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all you have done for me and you dont even know me....and everyone else on here that has offered advise and kindness, wow...never expected to find such kindness and support, i cant thank all of you enough...I am becoming obsessed with this site, oh and the weigh scale every morning, im sure once it stops changing I will stop steppin on it.
