i joined the gym yesterday, started with weights, then tonight i will get there and do cardio, plan to that mon-fri alternating weights and cardio, hoping that will help this excessive hanging skin of mine
my hair is coming out, my pillow is full of hair when i wake up, my towel is full, my shirts when i pull them over my head, and even just when walking around i seem to be picking hair off my clothes constantly
i had the best protein day yesterday and plan to stick with those foods until i get sick of them and will add some variety to change it a bit, but i got 83 grams of protein in, all with foods and drinking milk, i also manage 8 cups of fluid, hate to admit it, but i think that is the first time i have been able to get 8 cups in one day, will aim for ten soon, maybe working out will help that
turkey pepperoni grimms from costco, 2sticks -12 grams of protein
cheese strings, part skim mozza twists, sobeys 1 sticks - 6 grams of protein
chili, homemade 3 cups in total - 35 grams of protein
Milk, 2% -2cups in total - 12 grams of protein
6cups of water
Totals calories 961 fat 53 carbs 40 protein 83
i find if i cant eat in the morning, drinking a cup of milk (which i can now tolerate, go figure) first, then i can usually eat about an hour later, i have been tolerating turkey pepperoni stick and a cheese string for breakfast, and even chili for breakfast, once i have had milk first, so strange what works, but when i find something that works i am going to stick with it until it doesnt work

Carrie - you are doing great...a word of wisdom...Try to keep variety in your diet day to day. I too eat chili 3 or so times a week, but one key is to get variety to keep satisfied in the long term - really helps with your success and behavior like that of non GBP patients. Keeping to the same foods will keep you less satisfied, very routine....remember the first 6 months is about learning new behaviors...
Hope this info helps you some.

Carrie, you are my new hero!
Somehow I missed this thread until today- can't believe it. Carrie, you are soooooooooo awesome! You've kept at it, you've educated yourself, you've really pulled yourself up by the bootstraps, as we Yankees say! I have not had my surgery yet, but I have learned quite a bit from your story:
1- ASK QUESTIONS!!! Of anyone- anyone who has walked in your shoes, has experience, has the education.
2- Any good doctor (and any intelligent person!) will tell you they are learning all the time. My mother is a (retired) nurse, from a generation where the doctor sits at the right hand of the Almighty! Well, they're not infallible. Sometimes WE are the best judge if something is wrong.
3- Grow "brass ones" if you have to- you know if something isn't "quite right"
4- (This bit is completely disrespectful!) I loved reading your stoy! It was better than anything on American TV! I read through all 200 pages of this thread in one sitting- I really resented it when the phone rang, I was afraid something would happen to you while I was away!
Keep up the good- no, excellent work!

thanks Duckie
well they say it happens in threes right? so my cat in august, was hit by a car when she got out, had to put her down, then my fish in november went belly up and now my beloved Missy...so i am hoping my other dog and my guinea pig will be safe for now, but i tell you, once they are gone, no more pets, too hard on my heart and on the kids too

Carrie,
Sooooo sorry to hear of you losing your precious Missy. The animals love us in ways we humans can only hope to attain. I'm sure the hole in your heart is huge.
One thing I have done that has helped me keep my animals alive in my heart is that I have purchased "angel ornaments" of my Cedar dog (German Shepherd/wolf) and my sweet Nigi (calico angel) to hang on my Yule tree. It's not much, but when I take those ornaments out, any family there with me get to hear marvelous tales and exploits of their lives. I'm a firm believer in telling the family stories and making sure the young ones coming up hear the tales enough to tell their families.
Laughing about how Cedar would pick one gift each year out from under the tree and unwrap it every single day (didn't matter if it was hers, she just loved squishy wrapped presents) until we would finally give up and take it out from under the tree brings her energy and love back to us. Cedar loved Christmas/Solstice more than anyone else in the family. For 12 Christmases we woke up to the sound of her pushing on each present with her nose to find the ones that squeaked. She knew those were hers, and would pull them out and set them aside. She was a gas!
Maybe when the pain eases off a little, everyone in your family could say a few words about Missy, what they adored about her, what made everyone mad, how much she adored all of you. But definitely grieve! You have just lost some of the best unconditional love a human can achieve.
Hugs to you,
Donna and Michelle
