Default who can explain me the pro op process?

I´m kind of confused with the pre op process.

Can you tell me what they ask you ?

I want try to skip the 6 months before the operation and get it done as soon as possible, do you have any idea how can I do that? and what is a diet diary?

Sandra, this site has an awesome collection of years of posts from many many people who have asked some of your questions (and even more questions) When I found the site, I spent a lot of time searching through threads in sections that I needed answers. I found it very helpful, so I just wanted to suggest it, in case you haven't found that feature yet. There is a large section called "pre-op" here that will probably give you more info than you can handle Good luck in your process of learning more and in deciding if WLS is right for you.

Thumbs up

Hey Sandra, what is suppose to be going on during that 6 months period? I understand there is a lot of processing to be done before you have the surgery. It depends on what your insurance plan requires you to do.

I have some of my appointments scheduled.

3/19/08 - First appointment with Dr. Gersin
3/25/08 - Support Group
4/21/08 - Phychological Evaluation
4/29/08 - Nutrition Consult and Fitness Evaluation

I'm not sure what will be next, but I am on my way to being thin.

Even if you're self-pay (as I was) many doctors won't let you skip the pre-op completely. Where I started, Hershey Medical Center wouldn't! I did 4-months nutrition as well as all the pre-op tests which is what my doc considered 'nothing less than'.

AND, although I wanted the surgery immediately, I have to say that the 4-month nutrition really helped.

AND, even though I was self-pay, the psych evaluation can still rule you out as a candidate.

My story:
From seminar to LapBand it took 8 months.
From LapBand removal (2 weeks later) to RNY it took 5 months.

Day 40: hernia pain began
Day 56: tops officially went from 3x to 2x... pants from 2x to 1x
Day 63: Two-terville
Next Challenge: Shopping at Walmart without a riding cart (can't do it yet: walking hurts like heck)

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
