Support Group in Southern California
Hi, Everyone, I am new to the board, only joined last week.
I joined as I had my surgery in December of 02, I lost about 115 pounds to bring me down to 132, but over the last year I have slowly started to put some back on. Orginally I was adding muscle based on the Body fat test, etc. However in the last few months (3) I have added two sizes to my pants and shirts. I am still exercising but not eating correctly. I wondered if anyone could tell me about a support group that might be in my local area. Unfortunately I just moved here about a year ago so I don't know that many people yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Kristen

Welcome to the BEST support group in Southern California! This forum is wonderful. We're based all over the nation but mostly in San Diego County. Where are you located? If in SD Co, there's a supprt group next Wed in East County, and there are 2 support groups a month in Poway at Dr. Callery's office. Let us know where you are, and in the meantime, glad you're here.

Hi Nancy,
Thank you for the wonderful welcome. I am actually in the city of Orange in Orange County. Are there any groups near here? Are the groups open to someone even if they didn't go through the same surgery center?
Thanks for the help,
Kristen

You can gets lots of wanted and sometimes unwanted support here. We all have stories and ideas and even opinions. Feel free to ask us anything. Sometimes it is hard to see ourselves in our new bodies and we start to backslide. This happens and can be fixed. Don't worry we're here for you.

OC Meeting
There is a support group Monday nights at OC Memorial at Brookhurst and Talbert in Fountain Valley. I don't think you have to be a patient there...no one ever asked me that question when I have gone. There is no meeting in the 5th Monday in a month. Its 6:30pm to 8:30pm in meeting room A at the main hospital. 9920 Talbert Ave.

New to Forum
Hello, I am new to forum, my surgery for gastric bypass surgery is in 9 days. I am 45 from San Clemente CA . I wieghed in at 262 lbs., have type II Diabetes and sleep apnea. I joined The N.E.W Program in Irvine with Dr. Quebbemann and Justin Braverman. I am all set for surgery, Blue Cross PPO is covering 80% of my surgery at Chapman Medical Center in Anaheim CA. I have been on my pre-op protein shake diet since monday Aug. 4th. This is one of the toughest things I have had to go through, at times I have felt weak and drained, it is no fun when you have to go through this and work. The program through is giving me support and is helping me through this and have added a little of turkey jerky, 1 fruit, and lettuce, cucumber, bellpepper, celery with No calorie dressing per day. I have 9 days left until surgery, looking for a new life. If I could get rid of my diabetes it would be great!!!. Wish me luck, thanks for all the support.
