Hey everyone! I'm Kayla and I go to school in BG. I started the process in Feburary and it looks like (if I get accepted by insurance) that I will have surgery around December in Cleveland at St. Vincent's Charity in Cleveland. My surgeon is Aviv Ben-Meir.

So where is everyone else from Ohio?

Hi Kayla,
I am from the Cleveland area and I had surgery by Dr.
Ben Meir in January 2008. He is an awesome physician and would recommend him to anyone. The hospital stay was a pleasant as could be and the nurses on the floor are very knowledgeable about the surgery and our needs. How old are you? My daughter is also looking into having the surgery and she is 22years old.

I'm 21. I saw Dr. Ben-Meir a couple of weeks ago for my first appointment with him. I thought he was very nice. My mom also had him as a surgeon. That's how I learned about him. She told me that she wishes she could have had the surgery when she was my age.

I'm in Conneaut OH about 75 miles east of Cleveland. I had my surgery in Erie, PA as it's a lot closer to me than driving to Cleveland!

I'm down 42lbs since surgery on 4/20/09. I'm doing really well and wish I'd have done it sooner!

Yeah cleveland is like 70 miles from where I'm living now. But Dr. Ben-Meir was my mom's surgeon so she wanted me to go to him.
I bet it would have been nice to have it earlier but at least you're still young! At least you didn't wait another 10 years. My mom was 46 when she got it done.

I'm not doing well on my 6 month diet. Hopefully things will start getting better after I start working again!

Hello, I am from Akron (Actually Cuyahoga Falls). It looks like we will be having surg. about the same time (late Aug., don't know the exact date). I am going to Akron City (Summa) They have a center of excelence for Bariatric Surg.
I have heard great things about St. V. for general healthcare (and I am sure that this holds true for the gastric surg. too).
I will be looking forward to hearing about you journey too.
