Default Just a couple of questions

Hi everyone,

Sorry if these may be stupid questions but I still need to ask:

1: Does anyone have a really good tasting protein drink they can reccommend? Someone has told me "Syntrax" are very good but I've yet to find it at a GNC, Walmart or anywhere else.

2: Did anyone else have 'dry mouth' after their GBP? I drink almost 90oz of water everyday and I still have that dry mouth feeling. It is worse 1st thing in the morning when I wake up. Again this is probably due to my recent surgery but I was just wondering if it was normal. Sorry if I am asking 'stupid' questions.

Thanks again

Michael

1. I prefer muscle milk.

2. Yes, your taste buds will change and dry mouth is a common side effect

You probably have to order Syntrax online. You can go to Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks! and order samples of Syntrax there, as well as samples of lots of other drinks. I highly recommend ordering samples before buying a big tub of something only to discover you don't really like it. Chike is another brand that a lot of people like. You can get samples on their website (not sure what the website address is, but you can look it up).

I know a lot of people complain about dry mouth after surgery. I am on medication that causes dry mouth so it's been a problem for me for years, but I did not personally it get any worse after my surgery. But it was already bad.

I am starting to try a bunch of different ones myself. I still need to find a good no flavor one that I can mix. But right now I like the Muscle Milk light. I have tried cake batter flavor, vanila and choc. all have been great. powder is better than premade but the are both good.

What did they do? Was it the rack? The Wheel, maybe? Thumbscrews? What? Cali – cali – what? I didn’t catch that. I never heard of a torture called cali-something. I wonder what it could be. Cali – cali – calisthenics! Calisthenics? That’s not torture! That’s exercises, you big baby!

Chike can be bought along with some fantastic bariatric vitamins from Bariatric Vitamins | Celebrate Bariatric Supplements | Bariatric Surgery & Nutrition

I know they have samples available of the vitamins, not as sure if celebrate has samples of the chike or not, though. Doesn't hurt to ask!

You can get samples of Chike from Chike directly. Chike Nutrition - Best Tasting Meal Replacement Shake. Guaranteed. Pour, Shake, Drink & Go!. They will send you a sample of each of the five flavors for free, but you have to pay the shipping, which is only $3.

Celebrate sent me Chike samples (one each of each flavor) with my sample request. I haven't tried any of them yet--figured my 2-week diet would be a great time to try. Chike is pretty expensive next to some of the other proteins though, correct?

I already had dry mouth before surgery due to some of my meds. It did not get any worse after my surgery though.

I dunno, hon.. I never tried the Chike. I keep a canister of the Optimum Nutrition Any Whey powder (flavorless) in the house, as it is the only 'heat stable' powder I'm aware of so I can use it for hot or cold drinks/dishes. Most protein has to be used at lower than 130 degree food/beverages.

I mostly get all my protein from food at this point, but sometimes add some protein to my coffee or muffins.

1. I pick up the Body Fortress protein powder at Wal Mart. Inexpensive, and tastes pretty good. Except for cookie dough, ugh. But most of my protein now comes from diet.

2. I haven't experience any dry mouth since surgery, even when I'm a bit behind on hydration. I guess that's just me, as I've heard it's common.
