Default New here so bear with me!

Hello gentlemen,

I just had my GBP on the 18th of last month. I am 50yrs old, 5'11" tall and when I started this I was at 312lbs. The day of the surgery I was 280lbs, I am now at 260lbs. Here is my question for you:

I seem to be having a problem with E.D. (erectile dysfunction) since the surgery and I am wondering if anyone else has had this same issue or if it is just me?

The flag doesn't raise all the way if you know what I mean, just partly. It was never a problem before (just the opp.) and my wife and I (mostly me) are questioning if I have a problem. I've talked with the Dr. who worked on me and he said he's never heard of this happening before. Should I start to worry or what? I go in next week to talk with my 'primary' Dr. about this.

No jokes aside..this is bothering me alot so any help would be great!

Thank you

Michael

Forgive me for responding to this men's issue. I did some Googling and found that ED improves with GBS.

Perhaps it's only because it's been 3 weeks since surgery and your diet has not yet adjusted to so called "normal textured foods". Talk to your doctor anyway to see if he recommends your see a urologist -- but perhaps only a few more weeks post-op would do the trick.

Since emissions are protein, make sure that your protein is up to par for your current size. Muscle mass is also important to creating an erection, so protein there is important as well as a proper diet.

Day 188: Century Club - 100 lbs down
Day 366: 1 Year - 146 lbs down
Day 396: One-derland - 153 lbs gone forever! (my pic progression)

Starting BMI: 60.4 / Current BMI: 33.6

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!

Well said as always Marella....makes total sense, excellent advice. My hubby has trouble with ED which is also a really common side effect of meds. In his case....diabetes meds, blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds so thats a triple whammy! If you have any of these co-morbidities and take meds for them it may that also. Hopefully the meds will go byebye as you lose and so will the problem.

Most guys on here (including myself) have found that GBP has done nothing but improve that area of life. I don't think it's the GBP. Your less than a month out so, your body is going through some serious changes, including healing. It's also in that starvation mode as you can only eat small, small amounts. Medicine's, pain killers, age, etc....all of that together could be the culprit. Check with the primary, but don't freak out. As you get through the initial stages of healing and start adjusting to the WLS lifestyle, things will start to look up again. Sorry, could resist.

Yeah.. I'm in agreement with Bama... This has nothing but HELPED in all areas...

But I do know that only a few weeks out from surgery I wasn't even thinking about getting an erection, much less using it if I got one...

I would also think its gotta just be a side effect of meds or you just aint in the proper state of mind..

Default Thanks to everyone

Well, I hope everyone is correct and I want to thank you all for your support on this. I realize that being only 3 weeks out from my surgery does things to my body I just never thought this would be one of them. I'll take everyones advise and not panic....YET! Hopefully by my 6 weeks apt. things will be "looking up' (nice bama) and I can get back to my normal lifestyle.

One other question: Did anyone else have 'dry mouth' afterwards? I drink almost 90oz of water everyday and I still have that dry mouth feeling. It is worse 1st thing in the morning when I wake up. Again this is probably due to my recent surgery but I was just wondering if it was normal. Sorry if I am asking 'stupid' questions.

Thanks again

Michael
