Default Hunters Connection

Keep this thread for the active hunters on the board to share experiences, BS, recipes, etc.

I personally smelled the cool air this am in PGH and what was originally an itch is now a BURN. I cannot wait to get the tree stand up in the air...to feel the bow string in my trigger release...to hear the "thunk" of my bow as I loose an arrow on it's way to one of PA's finest.

Went out last friday to pick up my food addiction replacement

Marlin XS7 in .308 with Bushnell Banner 6-18X50
Firing Winchester SuperX PowerPoint 150gr it does this:

one click right, 8 clicks up and i'm ready for the first monday after turkey day.

Anyone else aching to get in the woods?

I am getting ready for deer season already. Building a bigger blind so that DH can sit back and watch. Last night there was a huge a$$ doe just standing in our back yard.

He ran when the deer was field dressed. I don't think he will ever. I am still trying to get him to fish.

Just got back from the Bass Pro Shops Annual Fall Hunting Extravaganza. WOW! They had just about everything on sale and believe it or not I didn't spend a dime.

I spent 5 hours in the woods last saturday cutting shooting lanes and putting out corn for bow season. Then broke out the bow this week for some late summer exercise- Southern Style. Here's a few pics. The Bow is a Mathews Legacy. BTW- Jay I've got your hunting clothes boxed up just need a address.

My husband got this one yesterday on my family's ranch.... he was lucky enough to get one on opening day of bow season too. He's so proud of himself, me ~ not so into it.... I feed them at our house (along with turkeys and various animals), so it makes me kind of sad

Nice shootin Bama. I'm still using the Bear Whitetail II that I learned with. Just this year upgraded the sights from the 2 row pin site to a TruGlo LOL

Need to go get some arrows this weekend after payday, and get a new string, peep, d-loop etc. put on. The rifle could not be any more readier...but i've got enough brass saved up now that I can get some reloading done. Gonna start with the .308 sweetheart load, 44 grains of varget under a 150gr sierra game king and see if she stabilizes. a little tweaking from there and we should be 1/4moa I hope!

Nice looking deer, was that taken in California Meaghan?

Yeah, our ranch is about 2.5 hours north of San Francisco.

The irony is that we have huge bucks that roam our neighborhood here in Santa Rosa. We live up on a ridge with 2-3 acre lots which backs up to a natural reserve. There is a 4x4 that visits our salt licks daily. They have become like pets!
