I do not think that 200 is an unreasonable weight for a guy 6'2". I saw a weight chart once that said a man 5'9", which I am, should be 149-160. My goal is 170 which is about my weight in 8th or 9th grade.

Goal Weight?
The best way to calculate body weight is through BMI calculator. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. It will tell you what should be your perfect weight. Use it it might help to answer your question...

A BMI chart does NOT calculate body fat percentages at all..It only calculates body weight and doesn't take into consideration bone structure or body fat and because of this, many people who have worked hard and have lots of muscles come up as being overweight and/or obese on these charts when they're not.
A BMI calculator is quite controversial in many circles due to this issue.
Ric (is that correct??)... It would really depend on how fit and muscular you were whether 200 is a realistic goal for your height
You're pretty young, so I don't know if you're carrying around any extra skin weight that would need to be accommodated when you're picking a goal weight as well.
Also, people seem to start freaking out when we've lost a significant amount and think it is scary to lose so much so quickly... I'm still over 200 lbs at 5'4" and people keep telling me I shouldn't lose anymore.. but it is more their own fears that a speedy weight loss means we're ill.

I'm 6'1" and my goal weight is 190lbs. I think that 200 lbs doesn't sound too bad. Good luck. Stay healthy and keep your muscle. Remember it's not what you weigh but how healthy you are.

I've just checked the BMI chart and it shows you as 33. That's still considered obese. 186lb will put you in the "normal" range.
I treat the charts as nothing more than guidelines for the reasons mentioned above.

For what it's worth, I ignored everyone elses opinon. The only one that mattered was mine and I settled on a weight I felt comfortable at. I knew it when I got there.

When I was your age, I was 6'4" with a large frame (size 15 shoes, etc.) and normally weighed around 200 (ranged between 190 and 205). I felt great, but photos of me show that I was definitely thin-looking. I once got quite ill at age 19 and went down into the low 170s - I thought it was cool to have jutting hipbones like a supermodel , but all of my ribs showed clearly, my face was skeletal, and people told me I looked "ghastly" - like I had been in a concentration camp. Yet, per the BMI charts, that weight was just dandy and nowhere near "underweight".
I now weigh in the 280s - "obese" per the BMI charts (I did a post about this recently) and have a goal of 215 that my surgeon set for me at my first post-op visit. Is this realistic? I don't know. Per the BMI charts, which as noted in other posts here do NOT take into account lean muscle mass or percent body fat, that would be "overweight". Yet, when I had a body composition analysis done in 1999 (where they put you in a water tank and measure percent of body fat, etc.), I was told that my lean body weight (skin, bones, organs, and muscles) was 207 pounds. According to the person who perfomed the analysis, everyone needs about 20 pounds of body fat to protect their organs, etc., so she said my goal weight should not be less than 227 pounds, absent any new muscle.
I went through three surgeons (long story) before having my VSG. The first never set a goal for me. My second WLS surgeon (Hilario Juarez - possibly THE most experienced bariatric surgeon in Arizona) was shocked when I said my goal was 200, as it was in college - he thought someone of my height and frame size should be 250. My third surgeon (Patrick Chiasson - the one who actually did the surgery and set the goal for me at 215) told me at my six-month check up in mid-August that he thought I would be "thin as a rail at 215" and that we might have to revise my goal upwards.
Your body will tell you where you need to be - BMI charts are a useful guide, but definitely do not tell the whole story...
Good luck!

It doesn't sound like a low number to me... seeing that I'm the same height as you and I'm currently at 202 lbs.
I guess where you go with further weight loss all depends on how you feel about things as you drop more weight and get closer to your goal.
I can definitely say I'm happy with where I'm at, regarding my weight. Although I do wish I could drop below the 200 mark - even for a short period of time... ONEderland would be cool to experience as a 43 year old man.

I couldn't disagree more. BMI is a horrible way to measure anything other than what your doctor tells you, which 9 times outta 10 is going to be pretty slanted given what they typically see and where we are/were all coming from.

Unfortunately while hydrostatic testing is the absolute BEST to way to measure real BF% and muscle mass it doesn't/can't account for weightloss. Simply because your LBM(lean body mass-muscle,bone,fat,water,skin) will change as you continue to loose weight. You will not only loose water weight but, also fat as well as some muscle.
For instance when I had testing done at 270lbs my LBM was 210lbs. She said that I'd be 10% BF around 230 or so. She said for me to be anything less than 230 would be unhealthy.. I was like uhhh yeah right lady. Look at all the body builders who are 6 feet tall and weigh 180lbs and are ripped beyond belief with muscle. The only guys who actually weigh 230lbs and carry a real low BF% are pro wrestler/mma fighter types. Guys that have been lifting their entire lives and are HUGE.
I haven't been tested lately but, im sure it would show my current LBM around 170 or more than 40lbs LESS than what it used to be. If I wanna show off my midsection I weigh 185, otherwise I weigh 190ish(for refference i'm 6"1 and very athletic.).

unfortuantely doctor advice isn't what it used to be. As you can clearly see here. The entire country is so full of fat people that doctors perspectives on what a real weight is for someone has gotten completely screwed up. They are this point are just happy to have someone in the 30% or under category much less actually weigh close to what you really should.
Its why they tell you crazy things like you shouldn't weigh any less than 230lbs. lol Please give me a freggin break dude. I'm not 6'7

My docetor laughed at a "goal" weight, his attitude was the same as Corrine's, he told me to go to where I feel good at, and call that a goal, although he did say that some people have a little more drive when they set a goal weight, and have a target number to go to, I picked 199, as that would take 3 numbers off the front end of my weight(455 to 199)..sounds silly, but its a target!!
And I have already taken off 2 numbers!!
