There was a horrible house explosion here a month or so ago - an acquaintance of mine was killed, leaving behind her pugs! If only I could get you all together... you could heal each other!

Thank you Katie for your continued encouragement. It feels really good to feel so loved. My husband is taking it badly (he is 61 and a "grown", 6'2" "man") but is really soppy and tearful! But the beauty lies in having had the privilege to love, be loved and having happy memories. The hurt is sore, less raw. What feels important is the acknowledgement that it happened, even if "only" a dog, puppy at that. The British are so pet minded in comparison to the Continent where I grew up. Feeling better and thank you again for your post.
